Authorities in suburban Wheeling are investigating a suspicious death after a 55-year-old man died Saturday night.
According to Wheeling police, officers were called to a residence in the 1100 block of Wildberry Court at approximately 11:50 p.m. Saturday for reports of a man who had stopped breathing.
Arriving paramedics immediately began resuscitation efforts on the individual and transported him to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim had sustained injuries consistent with a domestic assault, according to police, and a person-of-interest was taken into custody.
Police believe the incident was isolated in nature, and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.
