Lewis Hamilton thrilled the home crowd by securing pole position for Saturday's Sprint at the British Grand Prix, edging Mercedes title leader Kimi Antonelli by the narrowest of margins in a dramatic Silverstone shootout.
The Ferrari driver produced a stunning 1m28.376s in the decisive SQ3 session, beating Antonelli by just 0.011s to claim his first Sprint pole since the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix.
After topping the sole practice session earlier in the day, Hamilton carried his momentum into Sprint Qualifying and saved his best until it mattered most.

Antonelli looked set to deny the seven-time world champion after briefly taking provisional pole, but Hamilton responded with a near-perfect lap to send the British fans into celebration.
Max Verstappen qualified third, though the Red Bull driver finished over three tenths adrift of Hamilton's benchmark. Charles Leclerc slotted into fourth after narrowly losing out to Verstappen, while George Russell endured a frustrating final run. The Mercedes driver dropped significant time through the opening sector and had to settle for fifth.
McLaren continued to struggle for outright pace at a circuit that has exposed the weaknesses of its current package. Lando Norris qualified sixth, ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri in seventh.
Racing Bulls Shine Again
Red Bull's Isack Hadjar claimed eighth, while Racing Bulls maintained its impressive recent form by placing both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad into SQ3. The pair completed the top 10 after another encouraging qualifying display.
Earlier in the session, Hamilton had already set the pace in SQ2 on the mandatory medium tyres, while Norris survived a nervous moment by squeezing into the final transfer spot in 10th.
Pierre Gasly narrowly missed out on SQ3 in 11th despite an improved showing from Alpine, with Audi pair Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg following in 12th and 13th respectively.
Franco Colapinto qualified 14th, ahead of Williams duo Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
SQ1 proved costly for Oliver Bearman, who missed the cut by just 0.010s to Sainz. Both Haas drivers were eliminated, along with the Cadillac and Aston Martin entries, bringing an early end to their Sprint Qualifying hopes.
