A suspect is in custody after he allegedly sexually assaulted a young child in Kane County last month.
According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the suspect was taken into custody Tuesday after the alleged sexual assault took place on Friday afternoon in Pingree Grove.

According to police, a 9-year-old girl was riding a bicycle in the 1200 block of Cape Cod Lane when the suspect allegedly took her off the bike, brought her to a nearby vehicle, and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect then fled the scene, according to police.
After reviewing forensic evidence, interviews, and checking license plate readers and surveillance footage review, police were able to identify a suspect in the case.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Velasquez Muro, was taken into custody without incident on Tuesday morning, and he has been ordered held pretrial in connection to the case.
