My visit was on the Carnival Sunrise, which currently has two mainstage shows onboard: Vintage Pop and Soulbound. The shows are performed by the Playlist Cast, which is a group of performers made up of two female singers, two female dancers, two male singers and two male dancers. You will notice in group numbers that the lead singers will be dancing full-out choreography at the same level of the dancers, and the dancers have microphones where they are singing in harmony for the entirety of the show. As a performer myself, I recognize the level of talent that it takes to pull off a show that is built in this manner.

As an audience member, I love being able to really appreciate each and every member of the cast. Everyone gets their chance to shine, and it helps to make each show much more digestible. How I Felt About The Actual Shows Onboard
I had never seen Vintage Pop or Soulbound before, so I was extremely excited to see how I’d like them. Vintage Pop takes place in the 1920s, featuring jazzy remakes of current pop songs. The costumes were gorgeous, each uniquely designed for each different performer in the show. The choreography was dynamic and fun, featuring classic jazz styles as well as more modern hip-hop and stylized movement. I was drawn in the entire time, and I felt like the vibe of the show fit the energy of being on a cruise ship vacation. It encouraged you to let go and have fun, transported you to a different time, and made you want to get up and dance.

My Overall Thoughts on Carnival’s Entertainment
Carnival lies in the category of “classic cruise ship shows” similar to what Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean offers. Out of everything I’ve personally seen at sea, the ones that have stuck with me the most have been Carnival’s Playlist Productions. They are shows that I wouldn’t mind seeing again and again. The talent across the various ships stays consistent, the shows are high-tech and well-executed, and it doesn’t feel too cheesy or overdone. It’s the perfect level of entertainment to break up a night of big dinners and partying.
