Police in a northwest suburb asked drivers to avoid part of the area on Saturday during an investigation into a deadly crash that prompted authorities to shut down a major road.
Around 4:15 p.m., two people who were riding a motorcycle near the intersection of Golf Road and Commons Drive were killed in a collision with the driver of a Nissan Rogue.
The driver of the motorcycle and their passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. One passenger from the Nissan was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Golf Road between Plum Grove and Commons Drive is closed in both directions while authorities investigate.
“Please take alternate routes to avoid the area,” the Village of Schaumburg said in a post on social media.
