Healthcare technology solutions provider Zelis selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider.
Zelis is migrating its workloads to AWS and using AWS AI services such as generative AI platform Amazon Bedrock, AI assistant Amazon Quick, agentic engineering tool Kiro and collaborative enterprise IT transformation workbench AWS Transform, AWS said in a Wednesday (June 17) press release.
With these products and services, Zelis will expand its ability to enhance its healthcare payments and claims pricing solutions with intelligent automation, according to the release.
“Our collaboration with AWS enables the next phase of growth at Zelis,” Larry West, chief information and data officer at Zelis, said in the release. “It enhances our ability to expand capabilities, respond quickly to client needs, and lead in an increasingly digital and AI-driven healthcare environment.”
Allyson Fryhoff, managing director of global healthcare and life sciences at AWS, said in the release that healthcare organizations rely on technology to support financial workflows.
“We are proud to support Zelis as they build a strong cloud foundation that enables AI-powered innovation, all while maintaining the highest standards of security, reliability and compliance required for mission-critical healthcare financial operations,” Fryhoff said.

The PYMNTS Intelligence report “Financial Services Pulls Ahead in the Enterprise AI Race” found that 60% of firms in the healthcare and medical sector plan to increase their AI budget in the next 12 months.
Half of these firms said productivity and efficiency gains would justify their investments in AI, while 45% cited risk reduction and compliance, 45% cited monetary return on investment (ROI) and financial metrics, and 30% cited strategic/competitive positioning.
According to the report, 60% of the firms said they were planning pilot funding, with no formal ROI required.
In March, AWS launched an agentic AI solution designed to automate administrative tasks for healthcare providers, as well as an agentic AI health assistant. In April, it debuted an AI-powered application for better, faster drug development.
When announcing the AI solution for administrative tasks, the company described how it can help with patient calls.
“Amazon Connect Health understands the reason for the call, the patient’s context, and their preferences,” Amazon said. “It confirms who the patient is, checks their insurance, reviews patient and provider availability—and books the appointment while the patient is still on the line.”
