One week after NBC4 Los Angeles reporter Eliana Moreno died in a tragic helicopter crash, her fiancé, Robert Barrientos, shared a heartbreaking tribute.
“I want to thank everyone for all the love and prayers I’ve received this passed week. I don’t have the words to express the pain I feel in my heart from losing my love Eliana this way,” Barrientos shared via Instagram on Tuesday, September 22. “Eliana loved and was passionate about what she did, I would sometimes joke with her as she left for work that she was leaving to her favorite place. We had plans to one day retire and move to Tennessee have some land and care for some animals.”
He continued, “Although those dreams are over, her memory will live in my heart and soul forever. I know I’ve been truly blessed to have experienced the love I shared with her in this life.”
Moreno — a 38-year-old aerial reporter — and her pilot, George Marciniw, were covering a deadly Metro bus crash in Los Angeles on September 15, when the chopper crashed and caught fire.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, Moreno died as a result of blunt force trauma.

He added, “I miss Eliana with every part of my body and soul. My heart aches for her return and wish I could hold her in my arms and tell her I love her. I want to thank my sons Andrew and Brian, my family, Eliana’s father and the rest of her family for showing me so much love during the hardest time of my life. Thank you to everyone sending me all the memory’s and story’s they have made with Eliana. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. ❤️”
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
