BOSTON — The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has named Webster native Haley Winn as its rookie of the year, just months after she earned an Olympic gold medal with Team USA.
According to the PWHL, Winn is the first defender in league history to win the award.

— Boston Fleet (@PWHL_Boston) June 16, 2026Winn was drafted second overall by the Boston Fleet during the 2025 PWHL Draft. The Webster native played four outstanding years as a defenseman at Clarkson. Before her time at Clarkson, she played for Bishop Kearney Selects.
In February, Winn was a part of the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team that defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime during the gold medal game at the Milan and Cortina Winter Olympics. Five Bishop Kearney graduates were also on Team USA.
Winn is the first rookie defender all-time to record five goals in a single season.
