Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Hungarian breaststroke specialist Vanda Megyesi has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Washington State University beginning in the fall of 2027.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Washington State University. I want to thank my parents, family, friends, coaches and everyone who supported me through this journey. A huge thank you to Coach Russ, Austin and Jackie for this wonderful opportunity. Can’t wait to start this new chapter. GO COUGS!!”

Currently residing in Győr in northwest Hungary, Megyesi trains with Gyori Swimming Sports Association, where she primarily specializes in breaststroke but also fares well at the sprint free and fly events.

Megyesi posted a series of strong performances at the XVIII. GYÕR Open (LCM) in December, logging three new personal best times. She placed 5th in the 50 breast (33.30) and 100 breast (1:13.38), 16th in the 50 fly (30.02 – PB), 21st in the 50 back (33.45 – PB) and 31st in the 100 fly (1:12.41 – PB). She also contested the 200 breast (2:43.06).

At the 2026 Hungarian National Championships (LCM) in April, Megyesi turned in another lifetime best performance. She placed 7th in the 50 breast (33.01) and 9th in the 200 breast (2:36.11), in addition to contesting the 50 free (28.50 – PB) and 100 breast (1:13.08). A few weeks later, she lowered her personal best in the 50 free even further with a time of 27.73 at the VI. Lövér Cup.

Several of Megyesi’s top times still stand from previous seasons, including in the 50 breast (32.50) and 100 breast (1:11.00), both of which she set at the 2025 Hungarian National Championship. Meanwhile, her top time in the 200 breast (2:30.42) was posted back in December 2021.

Best Times LCM (SCY Conversions)

50 breast – 32.50 (28.37) 100 breast – 1:11.00 (1:02.16) 200 breast – 2:30.42 (2:11.90)

A Division I program in the Mountain West Conference, Washington State took the runner-up spot at this past season’s conference championship in February, a jump up from the team’s 5th-place finish the year before. The Cougars sent two women, Emily Lundgren and Darcy Revitt, to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division I Championships, where they finished 41st overall.

Based on the results from the 2026 Mountain West Conference Championships, Megyesi would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 breast and the ‘B’ final in the 100 breast based on her projected SCY time conversions, setting her up to be a strong contributor right from the start.

On the team itself, Megyesi would have ranked 3rd in the 50 breast and 200 breast and 5th in the 100 breast this past season, putting her in a position to be a strong contender for a relay spot as well, especially with the Cougars’ top breaststroker, Lundgren, having graduated in May. With another full season to go before Megyesi arrives in Washington, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out.

Currently set to join Megyesi in Washington State’s class of 2031 are Rebecca Welch, Tessa Aberle, Ayla Vodak and Amy Hempenstall, who should all make for strong training partners during their four years together.
