Ferrari have arrived at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix weekend with the most extensive upgrade programme on the grid, signaling a renewed push to close the gap to Mercedes after displaying a fluctuating form in the early part of the 2026 season.
While rivals have opted for more targeted adjustments at one of Formula 1’s most data-rich circuits, the Scuderia have introduced a broad aerodynamic overhaul of the SF-26, headlined by a significantly revised front-end package and a series of coordinated floor and bodywork developments.

The centrepiece of Ferrari’s Barcelona package is a completely reworked front wing and nose assembly – an area that dictates much of the car’s downstream aerodynamic behaviour.
The revised nose features an altered profile with a raised lower surface, accompanied by a new footplate design incorporating redesigned vane structures and an additional dive plane integrated into the endplate.
Ferrari has also reworked its wing elements to better manage aero load distribution, while refining how the straight mode actuator integrates within the nose structure.
Taken together, the changes are designed not only to increase overall downforce, but also to improve airflow management over the front tyres – a key factor in stabilising balance through Barcelona’s long, loaded corners.
Floor and bodywork refinements target efficiency gains
Beyond the front of the car, Ferrari have implemented further changes aimed at extracting additional performance from the SF-26’s underfloor.
The team has re-engineered the leading edge of the floor with reduced keel volume and reshaped aerodynamic profiles, including redesigned floor “claws” and updated horizontal and vertical elements.
These revisions are intended to improve airflow conditioning into the diffuser, increasing overall downforce without a proportional drag penalty.
Additional tweaks have also been made to the rear floor winglets and diffuser geometry, while the sidepod design has been subtly reshaped to integrate with the revised floor philosophy.
The overall aim is clear: improve aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining a more stable balance window across varying fuel loads and corner types.
Rivals take a more conservative approach
While Ferrari have pushed forward with a comprehensive upgrade package, their main rivals have adopted more incremental developments in Barcelona.
McLaren have introduced a revised front wing endplate to fine-tune airflow direction, while Mercedes have added small rear wing winglets in pursuit of improved efficiency.
Red Bull have also made adjustments to front wing geometry, including revised components and a more aggressive flap option available if required. Williams have focused on rear wing modifications aimed at increasing downforce without sacrificing straight-line speed, a critical compromise at the high-speed Spanish venue.
Elsewhere, Racing Bulls have refined diffuser integration and expanded front wing options for improved balance, while Haas have made small changes to their rear impact structure.
Cadillac continue to evolve their MAC-26 with incremental updates, including additional cooling slots and the reinstatement of a straight-mode mechanism on their revised Monaco-spec rear wing.
