FAST vs. HEAT Schools Out for Summer Dual Meet
May 29, 2026 Ocasek Natatorium, University of Akron, Akron, Ohio Long Course Meters (50m) Meet Results (PDF)A lowkey dual meet between Firestone-Akron Swim Team and the Hudson Explorers Aquatic Team led to a last minute marker for an international-caliber swimmer.
Racing among mostly age groupers, 20-year-old Swede Felicia Klintemar posted times of 27.34 in the 50 fly and 59.26 in the 100 fly.
Klintemar’s previous lifetime best was a 59.57 done last summer at the Swedish Championships. Her swim last weekend was done with a very different tactic: she was out in 27.09 and came home in 32.17, as compared to her previous personal best where she opened in 27.96 and finished in 31.61.
Her 27.09 opening 50 is close to her lifetime best of 26.83 in a 50 fly flat start, also from last year’s Swedish Championships.
A second crack in the 100 fly resulted in a DQ for not being past vertical after pushing off the wall, though a first 50 split of 27.28 was still a notable result.
That swim appears to have secured her spot at the European Championships from August 10-16 in Paris. She was not on the initial roster announced on March 27, but after slipping under the qualifying standard of 59.30, was named to the country’s most recent 22 swimmer roster.
Swimmers still have more chances to qualify at the Swedish Championships, but Klintemar’s spot is now secure.
Klintemar is at the meet as part of the University of Akron Swim Team, which competes under the Firestone-Akron banner in club competition. As a sophomore last season, she set a school and MAC conference record in the 100 yard fly at the NCAA Championships. There she finished 9th in 50.89.
Her best time prior to arriving in Akron was 1:01.88, putting her in line with a very strong program history for the Zips in the women’s butterfly events – including All-Americans like Sarah Watson, Abby Daniel, and Paulina Nogaj.
Klintemar now ranks as the 10th-fastest Swede ever in the event and the country’s #3 performer this year.
