Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah extended his record of Matchday 1 goals in the Premier League, becoming the first player to score 10 goals on the opening day in the competition. Hugo Ekitiké became only the second player to both score and assist a goal on his Premier League debut for Liverpool, after Darwin Núñez against Fulham in August 2022. In Eliezer Mayenda, Dan Ballard and Wilson Isidor, Sunderland became the first team to have three players score on their Premier League debut in the same match since Reading against Middlesborough in August 2006 (Dave Kitson, Steve Sidwell and Leroy Lita). Against Spurs, Burnley’s Martin Dúbravka became the first goalkeeper to fall foul of the new “eight second rule” in the Premier League. Tijjani Reijnders became just the second player to both score and assist on their Premier League debut for Manchester City after Sergio Agüero in August 2011 versus Swansea City. For just the third time in Premier League history, as many as two newly-promoted sides (Leeds and Sunderland) won on MD1, also happening in 1997-98 (Bolton & Crystal Palace) and in 2021-22 (Brentford & Watford). Tottenham Hotspur became only the second side to win away to a Pep Guardiola managed team in back-to-back league seasons, after Manchester United, who achieved the feat in 2019-20/2020-21. Having also won with Brentford in November 2022, Tottenham’s Thomas Frank became only the third manager to beat Pep Guardiola away from home in the league with two different clubs, after José Mourinho (Real Madrid & Man Utd) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea & Tottenham). Against Leeds, Arsenal’s Max Dowman (15y 235d) became just the third player to appear in a Premier League game before turning 16 years old after teammate Ethan Nwaneri vs Brentford in September 2022 (15y 181d) and Jeremy Monga for Leicester City vs Newcastle United in April (15y 271d). Iliman Ndiaye became Everton’s first ever Premier League scorer at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, having also been the Toffees’ final scorer at Goodison Park in May. Rio Ngumoha’s winner at Newcastle made him Liverpool’s youngest-ever Premier League scorer at 16 years and 361 days old, and the second 16-year-old to score a winning goal in a Premier League game (Wayne Rooney vs Arsenal in 2002, 16y 360d). Manchester United became the first side ever to see both of their first two goals of a Premier League season be own goals. James Milner’s penalty against Man City made him the oldest ever penalty scorer in a Premier League game and the second oldest scorer ever (39 years, 239 days), behind Teddy Sheringham (40 years, 268 days). West Ham’s win at Nottingham Forest was the second latest into a match that a team have gone 1-0 up in a Premier League game and ended up winning by 3+ goals (84th minute), after Manchester United v Everton in October 2002 (86th minute). A 3-0 win at Aston Villa saw Crystal Palace unbeaten across their last 14 matches across all competitions (W6 D8) – their longest ever run as a top-flight team in club history (eventually extending the run to 19 games).

September

Aston Villa failed to score in their opening four league games to a season for the first time in their history. In their 127th season in English league football, Wolves began a campaign with four consecutive defeats for the very first time (ultimately extending to five). Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade became just the third German to score on his Premier League debut after Jürgen Klinsmann in August 1994 and Ilkay Gündogan in September 2016. Against Burnley, Liverpool became the first side in Premier League history to win four consecutive matches thanks to a winning goal scored in the final 10 minutes.  Against Man Utd, Erling Haaland scored his 50th goal in his 50th home Premier League game for Manchester City. In the competition’s history, only Alan Shearer required fewer home appearances to hit 50 home goals (47). Against Chelsea, Bruno Fernandes scored his 100th goal for Manchester United in all competitions, while he also became the fifth player to score on his 200th Premier League appearance for the Red Devils (after Denis Irwin, Phil Neville, Wayne Rooney and Antonio Valencia). Against Chelsea, Casemiro became the first ever Man Utd player to score and be sent off in the first half of a Premier League match. Against Man Utd, Robert Sanchez received Chelsea’s earliest ever red card in a Premier League game (5th minute). In the same game, Chelsea made three substitutions in the first 21 minutes, the earliest a side has ever done so in a Premier League game. Newcastle United became the second top-flight side to see each of their first three away games in a season finish 0-0, after Leicester City in 1976-77. Brentford’s Igor Thiago became just the second player to score twice in the opening 20 minutes of a Premier League match against Manchester United, after Alexis Sánchez with Arsenal in October 2015 (19 minutes).

October

Against West Ham, Mikel Arteta picked up his 177th win in his 300th game with Arsenal. Only three managers have ever won more of their first 300 in charge of a top-flight English club – Pep Guardiola with Man City (219), José Mourinho with Chelsea (196 across two spells) and Kenny Dalglish with Liverpool (185). Nick Woltemade became only the third player to score in each of his first three home Premier League appearances for Newcastle, after Les Ferdinand in 1995 and Alan Shearer in 1996. In Crystal Palace’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth, Jean-Philippe Mateta was the first player to score a home Premier League hat-trick and not win since Andy Carroll in April 2016 in a 3-3 draw for West Ham vs Arsenal. Against Everton, Erling Haaland scored his 10th (and 11th) Premier League goals of the season. It’s the third earliest (MD8) a player has reached double figures in a campaign in the competition, with the Norwegian also responsible for the other two (MD5 in 2022-23, MD6 in 2024-25). Arsenal didn’t face a shot on target in successive Premier League games for the first time since November 2003, with the second game on that occasion also against Fulham. A 2-1 defeat to Man Utd saw Liverpool lose four consecutive matches across all competitions for the first time since November 2014. It ended the Red Devils’ nine-game winless away run against Liverpool in the Premier League, earning their first victory at Anfield since January 2016. With a 2-0 loss to Brentford, West Ham United lost five successive home games in the top-flight for the second time in their history, previously doing so in April 1931. Against Newcastle, Alex Iwobi became only the fifth African player, and first from Nigeria, to reach 300 Premier League appearances after Kolo Touré, Mohamed Salah, Wilfried Zaha and Jordan Ayew. Liverpool became just the fourth reigning Premier League champions to lose four consecutive games after Leicester in 2016-17 (5), Liverpool themselves in 2020-21 (4) and Manchester City last season (4). Arsenal went 100 matches in all competitions without conceding three goals in a game after a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, the second English league side to go 100+ games without shipping three, along with Manchester United between October 2016 and August 2018 (107). Tottenham Hotspur became the first team to beat Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with a 3-0 victory.

November

For the first time in Leeds United’s history, they went eight consecutive league matches without scoring at a particular stadium, failing to find the net in eight in a row at Brighton’s Amex Stadium. Against Aston Villa, Mohamed Salah became just the third player in Liverpool’s history to reach 250 goals for the club, after Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285). Against Bournemouth, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland became only the third player ever to score 2+ goals in four or more consecutive Premier League home appearances, after Robbie Fowler (4 across 1995/1996) and Luis Suárez (5 in 2013). Arsenal won eight consecutive matches without conceding in all competitions, the joint-longest run ever by an English top-flight side (also Preston between January-September 1889 and Liverpool between January-February 1920). Pep Guardiola took charge of his 1,000th game as a manager, with Man City’s 3-0 win against Liverpool being the 716th victory of his coaching career (388th with the Citizens). Nottingham Forest were only the fourth visiting side to win a Premier League game at Anfield by a margin of 3+ goals, after Chelsea in October 2005 (4-1), West Ham in August 2015 (3-0), and Man City in February 2021 (4-1). With 3-0 defeats to both Man City and Nottingham Forest, Liverpool lost back-to-back league games by a margin of 3+ goals for the first time since April 1965 under Bill Shankly. Newcastle’s Eddie Howe picked up his first ever Premier League win over Pep Guardiola in his 17th attempt (D2 L14). Eberechi Eze became just the fourth player to score a hat-trick in competitive meetings between Arsenal and Tottenham after Ted Drake (October 1934), Terry Dyson (August 1961) and Alan Sunderland (December 1978).  Against Everton, Man Utd lost a Premier League game at Old Trafford after seeing the opposition pick up a red card for the first time ever, winning 36 and drawing 10 of the previous 46. It was also the first time the Toffees had won a league game after receiving a first-half red card since August 2006 (vs Tottenham). Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye was the first player to be sent off in the Premier League for fighting with a teammate since Ricardo Fuller with Andy Griffin for Stoke on December 28 2008 (vs West Ham). Igor Thiago scored his 10th and 11th Premier League goals of the season against Burnley, the earliest in terms of matches (13) a Brentford player has reached double figures in a single campaign in the competition. Their 3-2 win over Bournemouth was the first time Sunderland have ever come from 2+ goals down to win a Premier League game, with that game the 188th time they had trailed by 2+ goals (D10 L177).

December

Erling Haaland’s opener against Fulham was his 100th Premier League goal for Manchester City. In just his 111th appearance in the competition, it’s the fastest any player has reached the milestone. Fulham’s 5-4 defeat to Man City was just their second ever home league loss while scoring as many as four goals, previously going down 6-4 against Leicester City in the second tier in September 1952. Meanwhile, City won a league match in which they conceded as many as four goals for the first time since December 1957, and a 5-4 victory against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. A 4-3 win at Brighton was just the third time that Aston Villa came from 2-0 down away from home to win in the Premier League, after a 4-2 win vs Tottenham in April 2000 and a 3-2 win vs Southampton in April 2005. Victory against Brighton was Unai Emery’s 62nd in the Premier League with Villa, the most of any manager across the club’s history in the competition – overtaking John Gregory and Martin O’Neill (both 61). Leeds United’s 3-1 win over Chelsea came with just 28.6% possession; their lowest share in a league victory since a win over Reading in the Championship in December 2016 (23.2%). Against Newcastle, Lucas Pires was the first player to be sent off on his first Premier League start for Burnley, and also the first Brazilian to be sent off on his first Premier League start. At Newcastle, Zian Flemming became the first ever player to score in four consecutive away Premier League appearances for Burnley. Against Brighton, Mohamed Salah reached 277 goal involvements for Liverpool in the Premier League (188 goals, 89 assists) – the all-time record by a player for a single club in the competition, overtaking Wayne Rooney’s 276 for Manchester United (183 goals, 93 assists). Fulham’s 3-2 victory was their first league win at Turf Moor since April 1951, ending what was Burnley’s longest ever unbeaten home run against a single opponent (29 games). Wolves’ 2-1 loss at Arsenal saw them lose nine consecutive league games for the first time ever (eventually extending this run to 11 games). Against Aston Villa, Jarrod Bowen became the second player to reach 100 Premier League goal involvements for West Ham (61 goals, 39 assists), after Michail Antonio (101). Bowen would then level Antonio at the end of the month (vs Brighton) and surpass him in January against Sunderland. Against Leeds, Jordan Henderson (35y 180d) became Brentford’s oldest ever Premier League goalscorer, netting his first goal in the competition since December 2021 for Liverpool against Everton. In a 4-4 draw, Bournemouth became the first side in top-flight history to score 3+ goals in three successive away games at Manchester United. Tottenham lost 11 home league games in 2025, their most ever in a single calendar year across club history. Against Bournemouth, Kevin Schade became the first ever German player to score 2+ Premier League hat-tricks. Only Ipswich Town in 1994 (26) have lost more Premier League games in a calendar year than Wolverhampton Wanderers did in 2025 (25). A 2-1 victory at Chelsea saw Aston Villa win eight consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since a run of nine wins between October and December 1910. In all competitions, their 11-game winning run equalled a club record, set in September 1897 and March 1914 previously. At Sunderland, Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin became the first Leeds player to score in six consecutive top-flight appearances since John McCole in 1959-60. West Ham vs Brighton was only the second game in Premier League history to see three first-half penalties awarded after Fulham (2) vs Bolton (1) in August 2002. Wolves became the first Premier League side to go 23 matches without a victory since Derby County in the 2007-08 campaign (32). Wolves became only the second side in top-flight history to go 19 matches from the start of a season without winning, along with Bolton in 1902-03.

January

Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca became the first ever Premier League manager to leave his role on New Year’s Day. There were three 0-0 draws and just two goals scored in four games on 1 January. It was the second day to see as many as three goalless draws in as little as four games played in Premier League history (11 April 2010) and the second day to have as few as two goals scored with at least four games played after 29 April 1998. Against Leeds, Liverpool played out their first 0-0 draw in 117 matches in all competitions, since December 2023 against Manchester United. Tottenham’s all-time Premier League record run of 137 games without a goalless draw came to an end at Brentford on New Year’s Day, with that being their first 0-0 draw since April 2022, which also came away at the Bees. Aged 18 years and 109 days in their 3-0 win over West Ham, Mateus Mané became Wolves’ youngest ever goalscorer in a Premier League match. With a 3-0 loss at Wolves, West Ham’s Nuno Espírito Santo became the first manager in Premier League history to lose against the team starting the day bottom of the table with two different clubs in the same season (also 3-0 with Nottingham Forest against West Ham in August). At Bournemouth, Gabriel Magalhães became just the second defender to score 20 Premier League goals for Arsenal after Laurent Koscielny (22). Against Sunderland, Brentford’s Igor Thiago scored his 15th and 16th Premier League goals of the season; with his tally this term the highest of any Brazilian player across a single campaign in the competition (eventually finishing on 22 goals). Erling Haaland’s opener against Brighton was the 35,000th Premier League goal, scored four years and 131 days after the 30,000th by Burnley’s Chris Wood against Leeds United in August 2021. Brighton’s James Milner became the fifth outfielder to play in the Premier League while aged 40+, after Gordon Strachan, Teddy Sheringham, Kevin Phillips, and Ryan Giggs. Timed at 101 minutes and 48 seconds, Harvey Barnes’ winning goal for Newcastle against Leeds is the latest ever winning goal in a Premier League match Opta has on record since 2006-07. At Arsenal, Liverpool failed to land a shot on target in a Premier League match for the first time since March 2010 versus Wigan Athletic, with that being their 600th game in the competition since then. After Lukas Nmecha’s winner for Leeds, and Gabriel Gudmondsson’s own goal at Craven Cottage in September, Leeds vs Fulham is just the second Premier League fixture to see both home sides score a 90th-minute winner in a single campaign after Leeds vs Norwich City in 1994-95. For the first time since 1980-81 (D1 L2), Liverpool failed to win any of their three home league games against newly-promoted sides, drawing all three matches in 2025-26. Wolves 0-0 Newcastle was the 17th goalless draw of this Premier League season (218th match), which was already more than in the 2024-25 campaign overall (16 in 380 matches). Their 3-2 loss at home to Man Utd saw Arsenal concede 3+ goals in a match for the first time since December 2023 (vs Luton), ending a run of 121 matches across all competitions without conceding more than twice. Aged 27 years and 17 days against Leeds, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice became the fifth youngest player to reach 300 Premier League appearances after Wayne Rooney (26y 58d), James Milner (26y 117d), Gareth Barry (26y 247d) and Raheem Sterling (26y 348d). Against West Ham, Chelsea won a Premier League match having been two goals behind at half time for the first time ever. Mohamed Salah became the first Premier League player to record double figures for both goals (10) and assists (10) against an opponent, doing so against Newcastle United. 

February

Raúl Jiménez’s spot kick against Manchester United meant he has scored all 12 of his penalties in the Premier League – the most by any player with a 100% scoring record from the spot in the competition’s history (eventually extending this record to 14/14). Sunderland remained unbeaten in their first 12 games at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League this season (W7 D5), making it the longest home unbeaten start to a top-flight campaign by a newly-promoted side since Nottingham Forest went the entire 1977-78 campaign without defeat (P21 W15 D6). Cristian Romero became the first player to be sent off twice in the Premier League this season. His red card at Man Utd was his fourth in the Premier League since he joined Tottenham in 2021, the most of any player during this period and the joint-most of anyone for Spurs in the competition overall (also Younes Kaboul). Against Spurs, Bruno Fernandes registered his 200th goal involvement in his 314th game for Manchester United in all competitions, with only Wayne Rooney (295) taking fewer matches to reach that landmark for the Red Devils in the Premier League era. At Burnley, Crysencio Summerville became the first player to score in five consecutive appearances for West Ham in all competitions since Jesse Lingard in March/April 2021. Liam Rosenior became just the fourth permanent Chelsea manager to win his first four Premier League games in charge, after José Mourinho (August 2004), Carlo Ancelotti (August 2009) and Maurizio Sarri (September 2018). Cole Palmer became just the second player in Premier League history to both score a hat-trick and provide 3+ assists in an away game against the same opponent (Wolves), after Raheem Sterling at West Ham. Against Wolves, Palmer became the first player in Premier League history to score three hat-tricks in the first half of a match (also vs Everton and Brighton), while his four hat-tricks overall are the most of any Chelsea player in the competition. Tomás Soucek’s opener for West Ham against Man Utd was his 39th Premier League goal, the outright most of any Czech player in the competition’s history (one more than Patrik Berger). Nottingham Forest’s 35 shots without scoring against Wolves was the most by a team without finding the net in a Premier League match since Manchester United had 38 in their 0-0 draw with Burnley in October 2016. Sunderland vs Liverpool was only the fourth match in Premier League history that neither team had an English player in the starting XI after Arsenal vs Portsmouth in 2009, Arsenal vs Chelsea in 2019 and Fulham vs Manchester City in 2025. James Milner made his 654th Premier League appearance in Brighton’s game against Brentford, overtaking Gareth Barry (653) to become the outright leading appearance maker in the competition’s history. Arsenal’s 4-1 triumph against Tottenham was their biggest away win against their north London rivals in the league since a 5-0 victory in December 1978 – it is the second season in which the Gunners have won both league meetings with Spurs by 3+ goals, after the 1934-35 campaign (5-1 home, 6-0 away).

March

All four Premier League matches on 1 March ended with a 2-1 scoreline – this is the only day in English top-flight history with 4+ games to see every game end with the same scoreline. Against Leeds, Granit Xhaka made his 250th Premier League appearance, the first Swiss player to hit that tally in the competition. Liverpool’s 2-1 loss at Wolves was their fifth Premier League defeat thanks to a 90th-minute goal this season, the most ever by a team in a single campaign. André’s winner for Wolves was the first time ever a team in the relegation zone has scored a 90th-minute winner against the reigning Premier League champions. Against Brighton, Bukayo Saka became the fourth youngest Arsenal player to reach 300 appearances (24 years, 180 days), only behind David O’Leary (23 years, 315 days), Cesc Fàbregas (23 years, 341 days) and Liam Brady (24 years, 73 days). A 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace saw Tottenham fail to win 11 successive league games for the first time since October 1975 under Terry Neill (D7 L4). At 16 years and 73 days against Everton, Arsenal’s Max Dowman became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history. Aaron Ramsdale became the first player to win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the Premier League with three different clubs (Newcastle, Arsenal and Bournemouth). Bruno Fernandes’ assist for Matheus Cunha’s goal against Aston Villa was his 100th in all competitions for Manchester United, the fourth player to reach a century of assists for the club in the Premier League era, after Ryan Giggs (249), Wayne Rooney (127), and David Beckham (115). Dominik Szoboszlai scored four direct free-kick goals in the Premier League this season, the most ever in a season by a Liverpool player – only David Beckham in 2000-01 and Laurent Robert in 2001-02 (both five) have scored more in a single campaign in the competition overall. Bournemouth became only the second team to have an unbeaten run of more than 10 games (W4 D7) and a winless run of more than 10 games (D5 L6) in the same Premier League season, alongside Liverpool in 2002-03 (unbeaten in 12, winless in 11).  Timed at 89:45, Brian Brobbey netted the latest ever winning goal in a Premier League match between Newcastle and Sunderland.

April

Bournemouth’s 2-1 win at Arsenal extended their Premier League unbeaten run to 12 games (W5 D7), their outright longest ever streak in the competition (eventually ending on 18 games unbeaten at the end of 2025-26, winning 10 and drawing 8). Having scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture and two goals in April against Everton, Igor Thiago became the first player to score 5+ goals against the Toffees in a Premier League season. Leeds United enjoyed their first league win over Manchester United since September 2002 (1-0), while it was their first away from home since February 1981 (1-0) ending a run of 18 league visits without a win. Virgil van Dijk’s late headed goal was Liverpool’s sixth 90th-minute winner against Everton in the Premier League – the most one side has against a single opponent in the competition’s history. In his final Merseyside derby, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah equalled Steven Gerrard’s nine goals to be the joint-top scoring player in this Premier League fixture. Morgan Gibbs-White became the third player to score a Premier League hat-trick for Nottingham Forest after Kevin Campbell in August 1996 (vs Coventry) and Chris Wood in both December 2023 (vs Newcastle) and February 2025 (vs Brighton). A 3-0 loss at Brighton saw Chelsea lose five successive league games without scoring for the first time since November 1912. Burnley were relegated from the Premier League for the fifth time following a 1-0 loss to Man City, only Norwich City (6) have ever dropped out of the competition more often. At Sunderland, Nottingham Forest scored four first-half goals in a Premier League away game for the first time – the Tricky Trees were the first top-flight side to do so on the road since Tottenham vs Southampton in December 2024 (5-0). Sunderland 0-5 Nottingham Forest was their joint-heaviest home defeat in the Football League, also losing 6-1 to Newcastle United in December 1955 and to Birmingham City in April 1958. Tottenham remained winless for 15 Premier League matches until victory over Wolves, their second-longest run without a league victory in their history, behind a run of 16 between December 1934 and April 1935. Eberechi Eze’s winner against Newcastle was Arsenal’s 17th goal from a corner in this Premier League season, the most by any side in a single campaign in the competition (finishing on 19). Casemiro became just the second player to score 8+ headed goals in a Premier League season for Manchester United after Dwight Yorke in 1999-00 (also 8), while only Harry Kane (10 in 2022-23) and Duncan Ferguson (9 in 1997-98) have scored more headers in a single campaign in the competition’s history.

May

Viktor Gyökeres became the first Arsenal player to score 20+ goals in all competitions in his debut season since Alexis Sanchez in 2014-15. With defeat against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea lost four consecutive home league games for the second time in their history, previously doing so in August/September 1978. Jérémy Doku’s equaliser for Man City saw Everton become the first team in Premier League history to concede a result-altering 90th minute goal in three consecutive matches. Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva became the first ever Portuguese player to reach 300 Premier League appearances and just the second player to reach this milestone for Citizens after David Silva (309). Wolverhampton Wanderers became just the second team to have lost against every side they’ve faced in a single Premier League campaign, after Sheffield United in 2023-24. Through Junior Kroupi in October and Rayan in May, Bournemouth became the first team in Premier League history to have two different teenagers score in three consecutive games in the same season. Ollie Watkins’ goal at Burnley was Aston Villa’s 1,500th in the Premier League, becoming the ninth club to hit that figure in the competition. At 18 years and 243 days old against Fulham, Mateus Mané became the youngest player to both score a goal and concede a penalty in a Premier league game, surpassing Jonathan Woodgate, who did so at 19 years and 85 days old for Leeds vs Charlton in 1999. Against Burnley, Bukayo Saka became the second youngest player (24 years, 255 days) to reach both 50+ goals and 50+ assists in Premier League history (60 goals, 50 assists), behind only Wayne Rooney who was 24 years and 84 days when he did so. For the first time in his managerial career, Man City’s Pep Guardiola has failed to win the league title in consecutive seasons in charge. With 13 goals, Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi became the highest scoring teenager in his debut Premier League campaign, overtaking Robbie Fowler from 1993-94 and Robbie Keane from 1999-00 (12). Bruno Fernandes’ assist on the final day against Brighton was his 21st in the Premier League this season – the most of any player in a single campaign in the competition. Arsenal became the first side in Premier League history to neither concede a penalty or receive a red card in a single campaign.
