Seven years after the final episode of the beloved CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, aired, actress Mayim Bialik is reminiscing about her character, Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler.
During an August 2026 episode of The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast, Bialik was asked what she believes Amy and her husband, Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), would be up to if the sitcom was still on air. Bialik, who began appearing as Amy during its third season, initially said she believed the question was “better suited for [the] writers” of The Big Bang Theory. She also noted that fans got a glimpse of Amy and Sheldon’s life as an established married couple during the 2024 finale of the Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon, wherein it was revealed they have two children, one who plays hockey and the other who is interested in acting, thanks to Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) influence.
Bialik also said she believed Amy and Sheldon, who wed during the 11th season of The Big Bang Theory, are “a forever couple.”
“I think there’s a lot of interest to like what if they got divorced, but I think they’re a forever couple, you know. And I think they probably have, you know, appropriately nerdy, meticulous, fastidious children. I also think as, you know, these characters age, they’re going to become quirkier. So, I picture that, too,” said the actress during the podcast interview.
Jim Parsons Discussed Filming the Finale of ‘Young Sheldon’ With Mayim Bialik
Parsons, who was a producer and provided the narration of Young Sheldon, discussed filming the show’s finale alongside Bialik during an April 2024 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He referenced that Parsons and Bialik returned to play their respective Big Bang Theory characters in a scene wherein Amy is reading some of Sheldon’s memoir about his childhood in Texas, which depicts the events shown throughout the seven-season run of Young Sheldon.
Parsons said filming the scene “was very sweet” and unexpectedly “emotional.” He also shared that revisiting Sheldon, whom he played throughout The Big Bang Theory‘s 12 seasons, wasn’t initially easy. “It was really sweet to get to revisit those characters in a situation that was sort of similar, but very different. And the only thing that was weird was the first time, [Bialik] and I got on set, we did our first rehearsal and I was like, ‘Huh.’ And we were walking back to the dressing room and she goes, ‘I really thought I’d feel more confident.’ That nails it. I don’t know what it is. It wasn’t like riding a bike,” said Parsons in the 2024 interview.
The actor clarified he was eventually able to get back into his iconic character.
