Maria Fernanda Costa, Gabrielle Roncatto, Stephanie Balduccini, Aline Rodrigues, Stephan Steverink, Artur Melo, Murilo Sartori, Joao Gomes Junior and Gui Caribe have all made the grade in at least one event, with this competition running through Saturday, May 23rd.
American Cadence Vincent was the top women’s 100m freestyle performer to kick off last night’s session, with the University of Alabama swimmer firing off a rapid mark of 54.30.
Opening in 25.70 and closing in 28.60, Vincent clocked one of two times under the 55-second barrier, with runner-up Giovana Medeiros joining her under the threshold in 54.89.
South American record holder Stephanie Balduccini, who competes for the University of Michigan, produced 55.01 as the bronze medalist.
For Vincent, her outing sliced .09 off her previous lifetime best of 54.39 logged at last year’s U.S. Championships. Medeiros’ effort checked in as her first time in the 54-second zone; however, it was not speedy enough to qualify for Pan Pacs.
Gui Caribe did make it happen for Pan Pacs in the men’s edition of the 100m free, on the other hand.
Caribe turned in a time of 47.60 to beat his competitors by over a second en route to topping the podium.
Caribe split 22.63/24.97 to get the job done, with Breno Correia next to the wall in 48.76. Marco Ferreira Junior rounded out the podium in 49.14.
At the 2025 edition of this meet, Caribe busted out a lifetime best of 47.10 to become Brazil’s #2 performer of all time, sitting only behind national record holder Cesar Cielo‘s former world record of 46.91 from 2009.
Caribe, a former University of Tennessee swimmer, now ranks 7th in the world this season.

That narrowly defeated Volodymyr Lisovets of Ukraine, who hit 27.20, followed by Kaua Carvalho, who notched 27.30 as the bronze medalist.
Junior was actually quicker in the morning, producing a heats swim of 26.92, with his outings qualifying him for the Pan Pacific Championships.
Carvalho, whose commitment to Auburn was just recently announced, successfully nabbed a Junior Pan Pacs-worthy result.
Continuing his streak of victories already in the 200m free and 400m free, Stephan Steverink added another gold medal with his podium-topping mark in the 400m IM.
Steverink stopped the clock at 4:16.10, a time just .04 shy of his lifetime best of 4:16.06 from last year.
American Thomas Bried was next to the wall in 4:17.64, as Brandonn Almeida‘s time of 4:19.64 garnered him the bronze medal.
