Backstroke specialist Quinn Norlander will continue her swimming career at the University of Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2027. Norlander, a native of Michigan, competes for Detroit Country Day High School and the Birmingham Blue Dolphins.
In addition to swimming, Norlander is a member of the Detroit Country Day tennis team. She earned All-State honors during both her freshman and sophomore seasons and helped lead the program to consecutive state championships.

Norlander was the runner-up in the girls’ 100 free (51.32) and 100 back (54.77) at the 2025 MHSAA Division 3 State Championships (SCY) in November, setting personal bests in both races. She also posted a best time in the 50 free (24.07) while leading off the 200 free relay during prelims. Detroit Country Day High School finished 3rd in finals.
In March, at the 2026 ISCA International Senior Cup (SCY), Norlander earned a lifetime best in the 200 back (2:01.31), placing 4th. She secured 3rd in the 50 back (25.87), 4th in the 100 back (55.30), 6th in the 100 IM (58.92), and 15th in the 100 free (52.82) as well.
Norlander secured several best times in July at the 2025 Speedo Sectionals (LCM) in Columbus, including the 100 free (1:01.28), 50 back (30.42), 100 back (1:05.73), 200 back (2:24.13), and 200 IM (2:29.61). She placed 12th in the 50 back, 20th in the 100 back (1:06.02), and 24th in the 200 back.

Norlander’s best time in the 100 back would have been fast enough to qualify for the ‘B’ final at the meet. Penn’s top performer in the event last season was sophomore Amy Qin, who posted a 52.15 to place 2nd at the championships.
Fellow recruits Tanja Amizic, Livia Cremer, Brynn Lewis, Ginger Strickland, and Lori Jiang will join Norlander on campus in the fall of 2027. Amizic also brings strength in the backstroke events with best times of 54.89 in the 100 back and 2:01.12 in the 200 back.
