ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re starting off chilly and gray with temperatures in the 40s and some mid level cloud cover hanging around, but most clouds should clear out by late afternoon as we expect highs to reach only the upper 50s. Not bad for a walk outside, but you might just want to wear a sweater.
Another chilly night ahead with some areas in the Finger Lakes getting as low as the upper 30s. No frost concern for WNY, and as temperatures continue to warm over the next week or so it’s become safe to plant for all the gardeners out there!
Tomorrow temperatures peak in the low 60s and we’ll have a mix of clouds and sun, making for an enjoyable end to the workweek.
Things take a turn for the worse this Memorial Day Weekend. Widespread soaking rain will envelop the region all day Saturday, leaving around 1 to 1.5″ of rain by Sunday morning. The ground isn’t saturated enough for any kind of flooding concern with this rain, so we’ll keep it Green on the Threat Tracker, but still a very ugly day overall. It will also be cooler, with temps never getting out of the 50s.
Sunday and Monday are marginally better. Still some showers, but there should be some dry breaks in between unlike Saturday. Another few tenths of an inch of rain will be tacked on by the end of the holiday weekend, but Sunday and Monday will also be noticeably warmer with highs in the 60s.
Looking ahead to next week, we expect a very comfortable and sunny pattern to set up! Multiple days in a row with temps in the low to mid 70s, low humidity, and lots of sunshine. It’s just a shame we couldn’t get that kind of weather this weekend.
