Cleveland’s Epic Implosion, a Mock Draft, Michigan’s Morez Going Pro, and Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

These NBA Conference Finals have been historic. Not my opinion — that’s literally historic.

Also, let’s take a look at what the most recent mock draft says about who the Bulls could select with their four picks in the 2026 NBA Draft.

All of that and more.

Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

A tall task and tough act to follow considering how entertaining Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals was the night before. They didn’t overshadow that game, but boy, did they try. The Cleveland Cavaliers held a 22-point lead with just seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and had a 99.9% probability of winning Game 1 before completely falling off a cliff. The Knicks stormed back, forced overtime, and when the dust finally settled, won the game by 11 — a staggering 33-point swing.

— Underdog NBA (@UnderdogNBA) May 20, 2026 It was the largest playoff comeback in Knicks history and the second-largest fourth-quarter comeback to win a playoff game. It was also the first time in NBA history that both Conference Finals Game 1s went into overtime. And the craziest part? The Knicks closed regulation and overtime on a 44-11 run over the final 7:45, posting a ridiculous 173.2 offensive rating while the Cavs managed just a 50.6 offensive rating. Absolutely insane to witness in real time.

— NBA Communications (@NBAPR) May 20, 2026 Jeremy Woo at ESPN released his latest 2026 NBA mock draft, which included both rounds (60 picks). Love that! There was no surprise at pick No. 4, where they had the Bulls selecting Caleb Wilson. ESPN stated that Wilson is “broadly viewed as the fourth player in this top group, there are plenty of people around the NBA who rate him higher and are enamored with his upside. Chicago looks like a friendly backstop for him.” At pick No. 15, ESPN had the Bulls taking Cameron Carr out of Baylor. Carr had one of the best draft combines, showing off insane athleticism and putting together huge performances in the scrimmage games. Here’s what Woo wrote about the Bulls selecting Carr:

“Chicago can go a number of directions with its second first-round pick, but it has a need on the wing and could see Carr as a viable fit, assuming the Bulls wind up with Boozer or Wilson earlier in the draft.”

If the Bulls walk away with both Wilson and Carr in the same draft, it has to go down as one of their biggest wins in years. Not only would they land one of the top-four prospects, but they’d also add one of the more talented guards from an incredibly deep draft class. That would make the Bulls one of the better young cores in the NBA almost instantly, while still leaving room in the rotation for Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey. At pick No. 38, ESPN projected the Bulls to take Milan Momcilovic out of Iowa State, a 6-foot-8 forward who can absolutely shoot the skin off the basketball. In his junior year, he averaged 49% from the field on nearly eight attempts per game. And at pick No. 56, they had senior guard Emanuel Sharpe out of Houston. He’s one of the older prospects in the draft, but probably among the best players available that late and definitely one of the more polished big men you could add in the second round.

— Jeremy Woo (@JeremyWoo) May 19, 2026 A guy I would be pretty content with if the Bulls managed to draft him is Thornton Township high school product Morez Johnson, Jr., who won a national championship at Michigan. Yes, he might be a step below Yaxel Lendeborg and Aday Mara in most mock drafts, but he is no slouch. Woo has him going to OKC at No. 17 overall. Yesterday, Johnson confirmed that he will be keeping his name in the NBA Draft and not withdrawing to return to college basketball. That’s usually a sign that he and his representatives believe he has a strong chance of being selected in the first round, potentially even closer to the lottery after a strong season and impressive NBA Draft Combine.

“I am excited to chase my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA,” Johnson said. “Every stop along my journey has prepared me for this moment, and I’m extremely grateful.”

— Morez Johnson Jr. (@morezjohnsonJr) May 19, 2026 He’s just 20 years old, has some of the best physical tools in this draft class, showed off freak athleticism at the Draft Combine, and is from Illinois. Johnson was born in Riverdale, Illinois, and played at St. Rita before moving to Thornton for his senior year. He is a former Illinois Mr. Basketball, played for the Illini during his freshman year, and could tie that entire basketball journey together by playing for Illinois’ NBA team. And we all know how much Chicago loves hometown stories. Morez Johnson’s ceiling could be incredibly exciting for this team, and he fits Bryson Graham’s SLAP mold perfectly. A couple names I would have circled for the Bulls in the second round would be 7-footers Luigi Suigo or Henri Veesaar. That would allow Caleb Wilson to avoid being pushed into a position he may not be fully comfortable playing early in his career.
