An iconic Chicago breakfast destination is growing its footprint and opening a new location in the city’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
Ann Sather, known for its Swedish breakfast and cinnamon rolls, plans to open a restaurant along West Division Street near North Honore Street in July, its owner, longtime Ald. Tom Tunney, announced Tuesday in a news release.
“We’re delighted to return to the West Town area, where we previously operated a Milwaukee Avenue location from 2001 to 2007,” Tunney said in the release, in part. “We closed the Wicker Park location only because adjacent construction caused structural issues in our building. Our new Division Street restaurant is an ideal location for Ann Sather as many of our customers live in the area.”
The longtime restaurant in late March announced it would be closing its Belmont Avenue location after more than 80 years as construction begins for a new apartment building at the site. While Belmont Avenue is its original home, Ann Sather also operates locations in Lake View East and Edgewater.
Ann Sather has since become a popular go-to for ” the most famous cinnamon rolls and breakfast in town,” according to its website.
