The Woodlands Swim Team’s Lily Wiles will head up north for her collegiate career, as the Texas native recently announced her commitment to swim at Purdue. The butterfly and mid-distance freestyle specialist is set to make her NCAA debut in the fall of 2027.

In December, Wiles competed at Winter Juniors – West and dipped below the 2 minute barrier in the 200 fly for the first time via a 1:59.25 in prelims. Although was unable to match her that time in finals, she did post a 2:00.68 for 14th, the second fastest performance of her career. Heading into the meet, Wiles’ best stood at 2:00.92 from the 2024 Gulf Southern Senior Championships. While her 200 fly was the highlight of her Winter Juniors meet, Wiles posted two other notable performances: she swam a 55.31 in the 100 fly and a 1:50.23 in the 200 free, both of which were PBs.
Wiles has since lowered her 100 fly best by 0.11 seconds, as she swam a 55.20 at the Texas High School 4-6A Championships, a time that earned her a 2nd place finish. At that regional same meet, she posted a 1:51.18 in the 200 free to collect another 2nd place finish. For those performances, Wiles earned automatic qualifications for the 6A state finals in both events.
At the UIL 6A State Championships a few weeks later, Wiles helped The Woodlands High School to a 2nd place finish in the 200 free relay (24.31) and a 4th place finish in the 400 free relay (52.23). She was also a multi-time finalist, taking 10th in the 200 free (1:50.87) and 13th in the 100 fly (56.29). The Woodlands ended up taking the overall 6A title, reclaiming the Championship after falling to 3rd in 2025.
Once Wiles arrives at Purdue, she’ll reunite with former Woodlands High School teammate Caroline Frazier, who is a rising junior. The two will overlap for the 2027-2028 season, which is Wiles’ freshman year and Frazier’s senior year.
Best times SCY:
100 fly: 55.20 200 fly: 1:59.25 200 free: 1:50.23 500 free: 4:53.31 1000 free: 10:03.17 400 IM: 4:24.34Purdue finished 8th at Big Tens this year, and were led largely by their divers Daryn Wright and Avery Worobel. Junior Reagan Mattice was Purdue’s highest scoring swimmer with 32 points, as she finished 9th in the 1650 and 15th in the 500.
Wiles’ 200 fly would have scored at Big Tens, giving the Boilermakers depth in an event that they are rather weak in. Their sole scorer in the 200 fly was sophomore Campbell Scofield, who took 10th in a time of 1:56.71. While Wiles doesn’t have any other score-worthy times yet, her 500 free is not too far off, as it took a 4:50. 23 to qualify for the C-final at conferences this year.
In comparison to Purdue’s current roster, Wiles would have ranked 3rd in the 200 fly and 5th in the 500 free. Wiles is currently set to join Neva Phillips and Adalyn Laughner in Purdue’s class of 2031. Phillips is a 1:02.7/2:17.4 breaststroker, while Laughner owns bests of 55.2/1:59.9 in the backstrokes.
