Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted, in a phone call with Brazilian Foreign Affairs Minister Mauro Vieira, that negotiation and dialogue remain the only viable path to resolving the ongoing conflict in the region.
He stressed that this approach would contribute to de-escalation, advance political solutions away from military escalation and safeguard freedom of international navigation.
The call also explored ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, with both ministers exchanging views on a range of regional issues.
Abdelatty underscored the importance of deepening partnership with Brazil, noting Cairo’s commitment to elevating cooperation across various sectors.
He highlighted the need to expand economic, trade, and investment ties and to open new avenues for Egyptian exports with competitive advantages in the Brazilian market.
Discussions also covered regional developments and ongoing efforts to advance the diplomatic track between the US and Iran.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for negotiations and emphasized the importance of proceeding with a second round of talks to reach understandings that would help solidify a ceasefire and bring the conflict to an end.
He also reviewed Egypt’s sustained diplomatic engagements in this regard.
On the Palestinian issue, Abdelatty praised Brazil’s supportive stance toward Palestinian rights and stressed the importance of completing the implementation of the second phase of the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.
He further emphasized the need to ensure the unimpeded flow of humanitarian, relief and medical assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, Vieira commended Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting regional peace and security, expressing appreciation for its efforts to de-escalate tensions and resolve crises through peaceful means.
He also affirmed Brazil’s commitment to continued coordination and consultation in the period ahead.
