Texas freshman Evan Bailey has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Bailey arrived at Texas this spring from Ireland and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Bailey competed in four meets for the Longhorns this season. He had a strong showing at the SEC Championships where he went lifetime bests in all of his events. Bailey scored a total of 32 individual points making him the 17th highest scorer.
His highest finish came in the 500 free as he swam a 4:14.94 for 10th. He also was 12th in the 200 free in a 1:32.80 and 27th in the 100 free (43.00). Bailey joins Alexey Glivinsky who also entered the transfer portal from Texas this week. Glivinsky arrived with Bailey for the spring semester. Glivinsky scored 21 individual points at SECs but qualified for NCAAs.
Bailey most recently competed at the Irish Open where he swam a 48.94 in the long course meters 100 free for a lifetime best and a win in the process. He also swam to a win in the 200 free with a 1:47.81. He has a lifetime best 1:46.66 in the 200 free, a time that sits as co-national record holder for Ireland.
In addition to Bailey and Glivinsky, David Johnston entered the portal when it first opened. Johnston has announced his transfer to Florida. Texas will welcome transfer Luka Mladenovic from Michigan. Mladenovic was an NCAA ‘A’ finalist in both breaststroke events.
