It’s that time of year again, Chicago Bulls fans: the NBA playoffs. And for the eighth time across the last nine seasons, our Bulls have been sitting at home twiddling their thumbs. For now, the team is without a head coach or a front office leader as it looks to rebuild this summer.
But there’s still been plenty of movement around the basketball world.
Bulls Bullets — April 23, 2026
When it comes to that Bulls head coaching vacancy, Hall of Fame former-turned-Emmy-winning broadcaster Charles Barkley hopped on ESPN 1000’s “Waddle & Silvy” for some wildly disparate takes on Chicago.“Yeah they’re irrelevant, and it’s sad. Chicago’s my second-favorite city in the world,” Barkley said. “Hey, you know what? You’re not even close [to contention].”
That said, Barkley claims that the city remains a destination for top sports minds, and the right front office and coach could turn things around. More critically for Bulls fans, Barkley has revealed that he and Michael Jordan have finally patched up their relationship. Jordan infamously hadn’t spoken with Barkley after he criticized Jordan’s performance as the Charlotte Hornets’ majority owner. Jordan sold his majority stake years ago, but still owns a decent portion of the club. Barkley indicated that the duo were slated to go on a golf trip together soon. Steve Kerr is heading into the summer without a contract for the 2026-27 season with the Golden State Warriors, whom he’s coached to four championships since 2014-15. Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard suggests that Kerr could handily return to TV commentating, where he thrived prior to his coaching gig. But Kawakami suggests that Kerr could also be interested in coaching his college alma mater, Arizona — although Tommy Lloyd has the program in a pretty solid place. © Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star swingman Jalen Williams has been in and out of the team’s lineup all year due to injury issues. His health luck took a turn for the worse again during the team’s 120-107 Game 2 first-round win over the Phoenix Suns. According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Williams hurt his left hamstring in the third quarter and fouled to stop the clock and get out of the game. Williams only suited up for 33 regular season contests this year, due to a wrist surgery and lingering right hamstring problems. The Thunder should be fine with or without Williams against the Suns, but they’ll need him against better teams in later rounds. A pair of projected first-round draft picks have officially declared for the 2026 NBA Draft. All-American First Team Arkansas freshman guard Darius Acuff Jr. announced his decision in a sit-down interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, while Duke swingman Isaiah Evans revealed the intel on his own Instagram. Acuff has been listed as the No. 6 pick in the latest ESPN big board. We ranked Acuff third on our own mock this week, although he may not be able to crack the long-established top four of (in some order) AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Darryn Peterson and Caleb Williams. Evans, an All-ACC Third Teamer, is ranked No. 21 on the latest ESPN big board. San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson has been named this season’s Sixth Man of the Year award, per a team announcement. Johnson edged Miami Heat small forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Denver Nuggets wing Tim Hardaway, Jr. for the award. Johnson suited up for all 82 contests with the 62-20 Spurs. He notched averages of 13.2 points on .519/.363/.794 shooting splits, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. The NBA reveals that Johnson scored 1,081 points off as a bench player, besting Hall of Fame former Sixth Man guard Manu Ginobili’s prior franchise record.BLEACHER NATION: Go Ad Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
