The Denver Broncos are playing second-year wide receiver Pat Bryant on short-term injured reserve, which will hold him out for at least the next four games.
Denver Broncos place WR Pat Bryant on short-term IR
The Denver Broncos offense will be without one of their best young wide receivers for the next four games. WR Pat Bryant is heading to short-term injured reserve, which was first reported by ESPN’s Ian Rapoport.
Bryant left last Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers after getting rolled up on during his 30-yard catch and run. He was carted off and didn’t return.
He’s been a spark for Denver’s struggling offense this season and has been a chain mover. Seven of his nine catches this season have moved the chains for a first down.
With Denver dealing with injuries to Bryant and cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Riley Moss, there’s a good chance that the team promotes veteran wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey to the active roster to take Bryant’s place.
It allows the Broncos to preserve Humphrey’s potential practice squad elevations for later down the road when Bryant returns. Also, it would allow Denver to potentially elevate some of their younger players at cornerback to the gameday roster for special teams and depth purposes.
Bryant will miss the next four games and will be eligible to return against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, prior to the team’s bye week.
