Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Toby Esposito from Henderson, Nevada, has announced his intention to swim and study at North Carolina State University starting in the fall of 2028. He shared with SwimSwam:
“Some dreams don’t arrive with fireworks. They arrive at 5am. In thousands of flip turns no one remembers. The next chapter starts at NC State. Thank you to my coaches, my family and friends for always supporting and believing in me. Excited to join the pack. ”
Esposito swims with Sandpipers of Nevada and specializes in distance freestyle. We considered him a “Best of the Rest” recruit on our Way Too Early list of top boys’ swimmers from the high school class of 2028.
Esposito swam for Coronado High School as a freshman at the 2025 Nevada NIAA 3A State Championships, placing 2nd in both the 200 free (1:40.51) and 500 free (4:36.68), leading off the winning 400 free relay in a PB of 46.41, and anchoring the runner-up 200 free relay (22.38).
Last fall, Esposito dropped 17 seconds in the mile to break the 16:00 barrier for the first time at SAND’s Distance Block Party. Two months later, at 2025 Winter Juniors West, he took another 41 seconds off his PB to place 13th in the 1650 free with 15:18.62. The following week, he was in Walnut, California, competing at CA/NV Sectionals. There, he established new PBs in the 200 free (1:37.82), 500 free (4:25.35), 1000 free (9:10.48), and 400 IM (3:57.00).
Esposito opened 2026 long-course season with a number of best times at TYR PSS Westmont, going 1:52.31 in the 200 free (19th place), 3:58.16 in the 400 free (14th), 8:23.63 in the 800 free (10th), and 16:04.58 in the 1500 free (6th).
In May, he competed at the Czech Junior National Summer Championship, where he lowered his newly minted best times in the 200 free (1:52.08), 400 free (3:57.47), and 800 free (8:21.03). He improved his 200 time to 1:51.73 and added PBs in the 1500 free (16:03.15) at NCSA Summer Championships, then closed out the season at Sacramento Futures. There, he finaled in the 200 free (9th), 400 free (5th), and 200 IM (18th) and notched a lifetime best in the IM (2:09.05).
Esposito will join the Wolfpack in the fall of 2028 with sprinter Jaden Mills (20.00/45.49) and breaststroke (56.32/2:02.99) and sprint free (20.81) specialist Philip Johnson. He will overlap a year with 2026 ACC mile champion Max Carlsen. It took 15:16.07 to score in the mile at the 2026 conference meet.
