MOONTON Games today unveiled its “Two Champions, One Game” vision for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC). Now on its third consecutive year, the mainstay title introduces the rebranded MLBB Women’s International (MWI) and the expanded MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC). Together, the two tournaments stand as parallel world championships, with MWI elevated alongside MSC as an equal pillar of MLBB’s international mid-season circuit.

MLBB Unveils MWI 2026 and expanded MSC 2026

MLBB has over 1.5 billion installations and 110 million Monthly Active Users (MAU) globally. It’s held the title of the world’s most-watched mobile esports title since 2021, according to Esports Charts.

The rebranded MWI (formerly the MLBB Women’s Invitational) marks a new era for women’s esports as it transitions into a fully-realised global championship. At EWC 26, MWI will stage its largest edition to date, with open qualifiers spanning over 60 regions. This edition will also see the debut of MWI’s Western Europe qualifiers as the tournament broadens its competitive footprint. The tournament serves as a platform for women across the world to pursue their esports aspirations and a chance to compete for a life-changing US$500,000 prize pool.

Alongside this, MSC returns with expanded global representation by introducing qualification pathways for teams from India, Thailand, South Korea and Western Europe for the first time. These developments underscore MOONTON Games’ commitment to giving more athletes access to the world’s largest esports stage.

Reimagining women’s esports

MWI’s evolution underscores its position as the pinnacle of women’s esports. Since its inception in 2022 as a Southeast Asia–focused tournament, it has steadily evolved into a global competition. It now serves as a platform for females to compete amongst the world’s best esports talent at EWC’s sole women’s tournament.

Ray Ng, Head of Global Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, said: “MWI’s evolution into the MLBB Women’s International reflects where the ecosystem is today. What began as an invitational has evolved into a global qualification pathway, with our women’s teams earning their spots through regional qualifiers since 2024. This growth has taken MWI from a regional initiative to a global tournament, and the rebrand reflects the impact it now has. Today, MLBB accounts for four of the five most-watched women’s esports events of all time, underscoring the strength of our community. Our ambition is to set the standard for how global esports ecosystems are built. By positioning MWI alongside MSC, we are creating a unified platform where talent is recognised on the same stage, regardless of background.”

The ecosystem’s progress is also reflected in the rise of the scene’s top talent led by reigning MWI champions, Team Vitality. The team clinched their third world title in 2025, making history with a perfect international run without dropping a single game. At MWI 2024, Vivi “Vivian” Indrawaty (Roamer) became the first female MLBB esports athlete to feature at the iconic Las Vegas Sphere. The team’s personal journey has since extended beyond esports, including a feature in the Amazon Prime documentary Level Up.

Two Champions, One Game

With MSC and MWI standing as parallel world championships, the world will see MLBB’s “Two Champions, One Game” vision come to life. Both tournaments feature a combined US$3,500,000 million prize pool, the largest for a single esports title at the event.

According to Esports Charts, EWC 25 delivered record-breaking viewership across both MLBB tournaments. MSC emerged as the most-watched tournament in the event’s history and the first to surpass 3 million Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV). Meanwhile, MWI delivered its strongest performance to date, reaching 496,995 PCV. It also became the first women’s tournament in history to surpass 100,000 Average Concurrent Viewers (ACV), underscoring the growing global demand for women’s esports.

Ray added: “As we mark 10 years of MLBB later this year and nine years of building its competitive esports ecosystem, our focus has shifted to how we define competition at the global level. “Two Champions, One Game” reflects a deliberate decision to place both MSC and MWI on the same competitive footing, with equal championship status on the world stage. It is about building a single, unified esports narrative where success is defined by performance, not category. This edition, we’re also very excited to welcome teams from India, Thailand, South Korea and Western Europe, reflecting the increasingly global identity of MLBB Esports!”

At the M7 World Championship (M7) Grand Finals, MOONTON Games unveiled the 2026 MLBB Esports Roadmap. The five-region blueprint, spanning Southeast Asia (SEA); Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA); Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA); East Asia (EA); and the Americas (AMER), will empower each region with tailored infrastructure and talent development pathways while unifying the global MLBB Esports ecosystem. As part of this international expansion strategy, MLBB will make history by hosting the M8 World Championship Finals in Türkiye—marking the first time its flagship tournament will be held in Europe.
