The Chicago White Sox have made a trade, sending infielder Lenyn Sosa to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Sosa has appeared in 12 games for the White Sox this season, with three RBI’s and three doubles while slashing .212/.212/.303 in 33 plate appearances.
In exchange, the White Sox will acquire minor league outfielder Jordan Rich from the Blue Jays, along with a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Rich was a 17th-round pick of the Blue Jays in the 2025 MLB Draft out of American Heritage High School in Florida. In his final high school season Rich hit seven home runs in 112 at-bats, batting .393 and scoring 45 runs.
The team did not specify where they would assign Rich.
Sosa played a total of 315 games for the White Sox, including a career-high 140 in the 2025 season. He hit 22 home runs and drove in 75 RBI’s last season, batting .264 and posting a .727 OPS, both of which were career highs.
The Blue Jays were seeking some depth in their lineup amid injuries to catcher Alejandro Kirk, who broke his left thumb in early April, and DH George Springer, who broke his big toe on Sunday.
The White Sox will be back in action Tuesday when they host the Tampa Bay Rays at Rate Field, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m.
