One of the most beloved hallmarks of summer in Chicago are the street festivals and summer events held around the city.
Grab your calendar and pick from the dozens of opportunities to enjoy food, drinks, music, community and culture across the city this summer.
As the weather starts to warm up, so does the city’s social calendar — starting next month with Mayfest in Lincoln Park.
Between May and September, there are more than 20 street festivals held across Chicago. Plus, music festivals like Lollapalooza, Beyond Wonderland and the Jazz and Blues festivals.

Lincoln Park Mayfest
Kick off the season with Lincoln Park Mayfest, spanning May 15 through 17 on the 1000 block of West Armitage Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. Details can be found here.

Just steps from the Belmont CTA station, the Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival is from May 22 to 24 this year. Details are available here.
Navy Pier summer fireworks
The award-winning and free Navy Pier summer fireworks show runs from May 23 through Sept. 5 and occurs twice weekly. The show starts at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and at 10 p.m. on Saturdays. More information is available here.
Sueños Music Festival
In now its fifth year, Sueños is a reggaeton festival held downtown in Grant Park. It takes place May 23 and 24 this year. Headliners this year include big names like J Balvin, Kali Uchis and Fuerza Regida. More information is available here.
Do Division Street Fest
Do Division in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood takes place May 29 through 31 this year. It features two live music stages programmed by The Empty Bottle and Subterranean. The fest is on Division Street between Damen and Leavitt. Details are available here.
Maifest in Lincoln Square
Maifest will move back to its original home in Lincoln Square this year, right at Lincoln Avenue and Western Avenue by the CTA stop. The German festival takes place between May 29 and 31. More information is available here.
Windy City Hot Dog Fest
One of Chicago’s most beloved meals is celebrated at the Windy City Hot Dog Fest on May 29 through 31 in Portage Park. Vendors will compete for attendees votes to claim the top dog spot as best hot dog in the city. Details on the event can be found here.
Chicago Blues Festival

Beyond Wonderland

Grant Park Music Festival
An over 90-year tradition, the Grant Park Music Festival offers free outdoor concerts featuring the world-class Grant Park Orchestra and a variety of respected conductors and musicians throughout the summer. Midsommarfest
