Warmer temperatures are set to move into the Chicago area along with a “spring-like pattern” bringing more chances for rain and rumbles of thunder, the NBC 5 Storm Team said.
The temperature increase comes after a cooler day, with highs only reaching into the 40s Tuesday, NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Alicia Roman said. Early Wednesday morning, rain and even some sleet and flurries were pushing across western Michigan, with some pockets of drizzle in Illinois.
Wednesday during the daytime will be dry, with milder temperatures in the 60s.
“All areas will be in the 60s, even along the lakefront,” Roman said.
Winds will also pick up, gusting as high as 30 mph in the afternoon and up to 45 mph by evening.
Overnight, showers will move in, Roman said, with scattered rain expected to last through the Thursday morning commute.
“But just after daybreak, it’s dry,” Roman said.
Temperatures will remain in the 60s Thursday, Roman said. More showers will move in by 9 p.m., with rain lasting through Friday morning, and some thunder possible.
“Just remember, your daytime hours are dry, but the overnight,” Roman said. “That’s when we see rain, tonight into Thursday, and then Thursday into Friday.”
By about 10 a.m., rain was expected to move out, Roman said, with temperatures in the 50s.
Saturday and Sunday will be drier and warmer, with a high of 60 degrees Saturday and up to 79 Sunday.
