On Thursday, April 2, NewsNation Senior Correspondent Brian Entin shared the revelation from a confidential source.
"The first investigators who responded to Nancy Guthrie's home were inexperienced, and the supervisor had never investigated a homicide before, we are told," he reported. "This brand new information is coming from a source close to the investigation, who sat down with me for an exclusive interview with NewsNation."
"The people that were there on the scene were not tenured homicide detectives. They didn't have a lot of experience in homicide at that point," the source—who was not shown on the screen and whose voice was digitally altered—told Entin. "To include the supervisor, who, from my understanding, never investigated a homicide before being installed as the supervisor for the homicide unit."
When Entin asked how that was possible, the source explained, "Well, you see, you have decisions made by people that will install friends and people that can do stuff for them, as opposed to people who are there under merit and can do the job correctly."
Catch Entin's entire interview on the topic tonight (Thursday, April 2) at 10 p.m. ET on NewsNation.
