Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Michigan native Rachel Kincher has committed to swim for Long Island University beginning in the fall of 2026. Kincher, a versatile swimmer who shows particular strength in the backstroke events, currently competes for Chippewa Valley High School and the Grosse Pointe Gators.
Kincher was a dual-sport athlete during her freshman year, also playing softball for Chippewa.
Kincher told SwimSwam:
“LIU has a team with a culture like no other team I visited. They have a relationship between the athletes and the coaches that makes it easy to communicate and they truly have a team I would be proud to represent.”
This month at the Michigan ULTRA Championship (SCY), Kincher secured four lifetime bests, placing 10th in the 100 back (59.28), 11th in the 50 back (27.84), and 12th in the 100 IM (1:02.48). She also recorded a personal best of 55.27 in the 100 free.
Representing Chippewa, Kincher competed at the 2025 MHSAA Division 1 State Championships (SCY) in November, swimming the 50 free (25.09) and 100 back (1:00.25). She qualified for the finals in the 100 back, where she placed 14th in a time of 59.97.
Kincher posted her fastest 50 free (25.02) at the 2025 MAC White Division Championships (SCY) a couple of weeks earlier, winning the event. She also claimed the title in the 100 back (1:01.51).
Kincher won several events at the 2025 Lake Huron Regional Meet (SCY) in February, including the 50 free (25.54), 100 free (55.36), 200 back (2:12.03), 100 fly (1:04.10), and 200 IM (2:20.37). She also placed 3rd in the 50 fly (28.67). Her time in the 200 back and 100 fly remain lifetime bests.

Kincher will have the opportunity to strengthen the team’s backstroke group. Her 200 back time would have ranked second-fastest on the team this season. Sophomore Amanda Gkeli recorded the team’s fastest 100 back time (56.01), while senior Alexandra Ciorna held the top 200 back mark (2:05.91).
MacKenzie Pierce, Clara Peris Diaz-Varela, Sophia Lee, Maddie Johnson, Aleyna Aygün, and Emily Weeks will join Kincher on campus in the fall. Diaz-Varela holds solid times in the 100 back (59.04) and 200 back (2:08.84), while Johnson has posted a 59.36 in the 100 back. Both should be strong training partners for Kincher.
