I don’t know that we’ll ever see EXACTLY the same thing in baseball, but we do know that there is a small home-field advantage in the sport for a variety of reasons, and we also know that some players just love the feel of being in a park with a bunch of loud, rowdy, raucous fans cheering them on.
Anyway, here’s a feather in the cap of the Wrigley Field faithful, where the fans were so loud today early in the Cubs win that they caused the home plate umpire to mistakenly believe he heard the Nationals catcher calling for a challenge:
