Ryker Levi, 15, Scarlet Aquatics (NJ): Levi set three best times and claimed two individual titles at the NJS 11 & Over Gold Championships last weekend in Piscataway, N.J., highlighted by a standout performance in the 100 fly. Coming into the meet with a best time of 47.67 from December, Levi clocked 46.94 in the prelims to rank him 1st this season among 15-year-old boys and 20th all-time in the 15-16 age group. He went on to win the final in 47.45. He also set a best time of 1:47.52 en route to winning the final of the 200 fly, ranking him 3rd this season among 15-year-old boys, and he fired off a PB of 20.55 in the prelims of the 50 free to rank 6th this season among 15-year-olds (scratching the final).

Penelope Chao, 12, North Carolina Aquatic Club (NC): Chao won every individual race she contested at the ESSZ Age Group Sectional Championships last weekend in Cary, setting four new best times along the way. Her most notable performance came in the 200 freestyle, where Chao dropped nearly two and a half seconds to clock 1:51.33, moving her up to 11th all-time in the girls’ 11-12 age group and 1st this season. She also ranks 1st this season (and 47th all-time) in the 500 free after knocking more than eight seconds off her best time in 4:59.61. The North Carolina Aquatic Club product added bests in the 100 back (58.63) and 100 fly (58.35), ranking her 11th and 16th this season in the 11-12 age group, respectively, and she also clocked 2:04.11 in the 200 back, narrowly missing her month-old best time of 2:04.03 that ranks 1st in the age group this season.

Ethan Lesnau, 12, Plymouth-Canton Cruisers (MI): Lesnau swept the breaststroke and individual medley titles at the MAGS Championships last weekend in Holland, Mich., setting new personal best times across the board. The 12-year-old member of the Plymouth-Canton Cruisers cracked the top five in the boys’ 11-12 age group this season in all three breaststroke distances, moving to 4th in the 50 breast (28.97) and 200 breast (2:17.58) and 5th in the 100 breast (1:02.83). He also cracked the top 100 all-time in all three, highlighted by his 76th ranking in the 50 breast. Additionally, he moved to 10th this season in the 100 IM (58.02), 11th in the 200 IM (2:04.60) and 26th in the 400 IM (4:34.65) with his victories.

Sydney Ermel, 13, Carmel Swim Club (IN): Ermel established seven personal best times at the Indiana Swimming Age Group Championships last weekend in Carmel, headlined by her performances in the breaststroke events. The Carmel Swim Club member dropped three-tenths in the 50 breast to clock 29.07, ranking her 2nd among 13-year-old girls this season, while in the 100 breast, she knocked more than two seconds off her PB in 1:02.92 to rank 3rd this season. Ermel also cracked the top 20 this season in the 200 breast (2:22.32 for 19th), and added best times in the 500 free (5:10.50), 50 fly (27.64), 200 IM (2:10.32) and 400 IM (4:35.68).

Iris Liu, 9, Pleasanton Seahawks (PC): Just nine years old, Liu put up a time of 33.97 in the 50 breast at the Pacific Swimming Spring Age Group Championships last month in Pleasanton, ranking her 6th in the girls’ 10 & under age group this season and 2nd among nine-year-olds. She also posted the #2 time among nine-year-olds this season in the 100 IM (1:07.74) and the #5 time in the 100 back (1:08.55). In the 100 breast, Liu clocked 1:16.88 to add two-tenths from her week-old best time of 1:16.68 from the March Hawk Party meet on March 13, which ranks 1st among nine-year-olds this season and tied for 18th in the 10 & under age group.
