Hometown Heroes Night (Friday)
The Rochester Amerks will honor local police officers, firefighters, medical workers, military members, and other “hometown heroes” during Friday’s game at the Blue Cross Arena.
“Hometown Heroes Night” will honor local first responders and frontline workers. It starts with an exhibition hockey game at 4 p.m. between members of the Rochester Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Jail Bureau.
After that, the Amerks will take on the Toronto Marlies. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. First responders, frontline workers, and military personnel can get a free ticket to the game. In addition, their family and friends can get up to 25% off the box office rate. You can check if you’re eligible here and enter the passcode “HERO”.
To honor first responders, current and former Amerks players have been delivering lunch to local law enforcement agencies, firehouses, hospitals, and call centers in the weeks leading up to the game.
Maple Weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
Saturday and Sunday mark the second and final Maple Weekend, a celebration of New York State’s maple syrup industry. Around 160 farms are taking part, including dozens in the Finger Lakes region.
Farms are organizing maple festivals, tasting events, pancake breakfasts, and tours of how they make maple products. At the events, farms are showcasing their maple syrup and other maple-favored products, including cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn, and glazed donuts.
The New York State Maple Producers’ Association organizes Maple Weekend every year. Earlier, News10NBC went to Schoff’s Sugar Shack in Victor to see how they’re gearing up for Maple Weekend and how the recent up-and-down weather is impacting their production.

The Rochester region is holding several Easter egg hunts and other Easter events leading up to Easter Sunday on April 5. Here are some that are happening this weekend.
Saturday: The Town of Victor is hosting an Easter egg hunt at Dryer Road Park starting at 10 a.m. Children will be divided into different age groups, including ages 3 to 5, ages 6 to 8, and ages 9 to 11. There will also be a sensory-friendly egg hunt starting at 9 a.m. on the Box Rink. No registration is required. Learn more here. Saturday: The Macedon Recreation Center is hosting an Easter egg hunt behind the Macedon Town Hall on 32 West Main St. It starts at 9 a.m. There will be four age groups: 3 and under, ages 4 to 5, ages 6 to 8, and ages 9 to 12. Learn more here. Sunday: OFC’s The Old Farm Cafe in Brighton is holding a brunch with music and an Easter bunny visit. Brunch will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the cafe on 3450 Winton Place. There will be music from classics like John Denver, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, The Carpenters, and Fleetwood Mac at the event.
