STANLEY, N.Y. — Ten dogs were removed from a home in Ontario County as deputies say their owner refused to get medical care for dogs hurt in a fight, leading to an animal cruelty arrest.
On March 22, deputies say they responded to Lisa Lovejoy’s home for a report of a fight between dogs. When deputies got there alongside State Police, troopers were able to separate the two dogs fighting.
After the dogs were separated, deputies say Lovejoy arrived at the home. Deputies say they learned the two dogs needed veterinary care, and Lovejoy refused to take the dogs to get any.
Deputies say due to the fight and a prior incident at the home in February that showed inadequate care to the dogs, Lovejoy was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. She was brought to the Ontario County Jail for processing.
The two dogs were treated by a veterinarian, deputies say. Those two, plus an additional eight dogs, were brought to Ontario County Humane Society.
