If you’re a fan of the San Diego Padres, you likely have been waiting for the 2026 season to officially begin.
An early exit in last season’s MLB playoffs left a bad taste in the mouths of many Padres fans. As such, the new season can’t start soon enough for them.
Fortunately, the new season is just around the corner as the Padres kick off regular-season action Thursday afternoon at Petco Park versus the Detroit Tigers.
The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

(File photo by Joseph Weiser/Icon Sportswire)Given it is a 162-game season, what happens on the field will not be determined for many months to come.
In the meantime, fans going to Petco Park have some new things to look forward to in 2026.
For starters, a new exclusive cocktail lounge is an option for those fans wanting a little more intimate setting. The location is an option for fans to gather before or after their game.
The Diamond Room, formed by Patina Group and Finest Collective, sits inside the Simon Levi Building. It replaces the former City Tacos.
That building is a restored early-20th-century warehouse located on the corner of 7th Avenue and K Street, anchoring Gallagher Square.
The Diamond Room will be an option for private events and VIP sales through Finest. With 50 seats available, the venue will take you back to the 1970s with its velvet, leather, mirrors, turntables, and even a disco ball. There will be a variety of food and drink options.
“Diamond Room is about more than opening a restaurant; it’s about bringing new life to Petco Park and creating a space that feels special every day,” said John Kolaski, president of Patina Group, the dining and catering division of Delaware North, the San Diego Padres’ hospitality and retail partner.
“We’ve been proud to serve fans at Petco Park for years, and this is a natural extension of that experience. Diamond Room gives us the chance to offer something elevated and intimate that complements the energy of the ballpark while celebrating the character of the neighborhood.”
New views and eats at the ballpark
Speaking of new experiences when taking in a Padres game, the team added 24 feet x 22 feet video boards to the ballpark’s first and third base towers. These new LED boards will focus on animations, sponsor branding, and display real-time enhanced pitcher statistics to upgrade the experience for each fan in attendance.
The boards can also be included in large takeover moments and coordinated with the main video board, ribbon boards, and other LED displays all around Petco Park.
What would your Padres game day experience be without splurging on food and drinks?
The Padres have added both Coco Ichibanya and Pop Pie Co. offerings to fans this season. The former focuses on an array of Japanese-style curry dishes. It is located in the Mercado area in section 104.
Pop Pie Co. is in the lineup this season with a cart locale in the Power Alley at section 129. Fans can enjoy a number of savory pies with all of them offering sides of mashed potatoes and gravy.
To wash down any meals you have or if you just want a drink or two, Stone Brewing Company is back. The brand is located in a newly renovated bar space located on the Upper Level, close to section 309.
