ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Nazareth women’s hockey team will make program history when they travel to Wisconsin this weekend for the NCAA Frozen Four.

Now in 2026, just eight years later, Nazareth is two wins away from their first ever national title.
“We’re prepared for this coming weekend. Part of that is the journey we’ve been on. But part of that is the disappointment we felt in the last couple of years. Even though we were proud, we wanted more,” head coach Chris Baudo said.
That journey for Baudo and the Flyers includes five trips to the NCAA tournament. But so far, all four attempts at a national title have ended in losses.
“I think just our team culture and dynamic has been really fun. And it’s just a calming sense this year,” senior Corsica Skibinski said.
There’s a consensus among Nazareth on when that difference was felt.
“From the start, this group’s had something special to them,” Baudo said.
“I thought it right away,” junior Logan Marchese said.
“That feeling came pretty immediately,” junior Meredith Boettcher said.
That connectivity led to winning–a 26-1-1 record, a top five offense in the country and a top five defense in the country. Most recently, an overtime game winner from Marchese in the quarterfinals punched Nazareth’s tickets to another first for a program that’s less than a decade old.
“We were all just really, really excited. I started crying,” Marchese said.
“It was just electric,” Boettcher said.
“My heart just filled up with butterflies,” Skibinski said.
“I have an exciting feeling that we’re making history and I think everyone in the room feels it too,” Skibinski said.
History made not by chasing it, but instead by relishing in their time together, so what comes to mind when they think about being successful this weekend?
“Doing it for the love of the game and the love of each other,” Marchese said.
“The love for the game and love for each other. So we just want more time with each other,” Boettcher said.
Nazareth will play Norwich University on Friday in Wisconsin. Puck drop in River Falls is scheduled for 3 pm with the winner advancing to Sunday’s final.
