Top 8 Teams

Virginia (Curzan, Greenwaldt, Moesch, Curtis) — 1:24.11 Stanford (Olasewere, Huske, Johnson, Thomas) — 1:25.57 Indiana (Clark, Paegle, Hoeper, Shackell) — 1:25.67 Michigan — 1:25.92 Cal — 1:26.10 Tennessee — 1:26.25 Texas — 1:26.42 NC State — 1:26.45

Virginia won the 200 free relay in dominant fashion tonight, clocking a 1:24.11. That performance marks a new pool record for UVA, and was just off their championship record of 1:24.05, which was set in 2024. Moreover, the pool record tonight led to a very interesting dynamic, which is maybe the best way to illustrate the exceptional nature of this UVA dynasty. UVA now holds the NCAA, American,  Championship, and this pool record in the 200 free relay, and all 4 records came from different swims.

Here is a breakdown of the 4 unique record performances:

2024 ACC Championships 2024 NCAA Championships 2023 ACC Championships 2026 NCAA Championships 1st Swimmer Jasmine Nocentini (21.55) Jasmine Nocenti (21.26) Kate Douglass (20.95) Claire Curzan (20.85) 2nd Swimmer Gretchen Walsh (19.95) Gretchen Walsh (20.23) Gretchen Walsh (20.48) Bryn Greenwaldt (21.75) 3rd Swimmer Alex Walsh (20.82) Alex Walsh (21.23) Lexi Cuomo (21.14) Anna Moesch (20.96) 4th Swimmer Maxine Parker (21.31) Maxine Parker (21.33) Alex Walsh (21.30) Sara Curtis (20.55) Final Time 1:23.63 1:24.05 1:23.87 1:24.11 Which Record? NCAA Championship American Pool

There’s a few things to note here. Once again, to highlight the dominance of this UVA dynasty, these 4 performances span across 4 years and include 10 unique swimmers. Moreover, all but Greenwaldt will return for UVA next year, so they could very easily keep this streak rolling.

We’ve seen impressive relay runs before in college swimming, but this one stands alone, although maybe not for long.

There are also, of course, some incredible splits in this list, most notably, Gretchen Walsh‘s 19.95 split from the 2024 ACC Championships.
