2026 NCSA Spring Championships
March 17-21, 2026 Rosen Aquatic and Fitness Center, Orlando, FL SCY (25 yards) Psych Sheets Live Video “NCSA Spring Swimming Championships -cop” on Meet Mobile Recaps Prelims: Day 2 | Day 3 Finals: Day 1 | Day 2The 3rd night of finals in Orlando saw several eye-opening swims, and some did it more than once. Among those was Sadie Buckley, who clinched a major best time in the 400 IM, and Luke Vatev added two more wins to his meet total in one session.
16-year-old Sadie Buckley continued her productive showing at these championships with a session-opening win in the women’s 400 IM. She touched over five and a half seconds faster than her prelims swim to win the event in 4:03.07, taking over four seconds off of her lifetime best 4:07.87 from the US Open Championships in December of 2024.
Buckley was not really contested in this race either, as the next closest finisher was her Nation’s Capital Swim Club teammate Emma Cigna (NC State commit, 2026 class), who touched runner-up in 4:09.09. Those two were the only two performances under 4:10 in the event’s final.
Luke Vatev also returned to the top of the podium with a tight win in the men’s 200 freestyle, where he used a big back half of his race to outpace Kai Joyner for the event win in 1:34.66, lowering his career best of 1:34.79 from the IHSA Boys State Championships in late February.
Joyner (1:34.91) was the leader after the first 100 (46.61), but Vatev managed to finish four tenths better than Joyner on the closing four lengths to steal the win in the 200 free.
15-year-old Grace Koenig-Song was able to build off of her 100 breast win from last night with a 50 breast win on day three. Swimming over a half-second quicker than the rest of the final field, in a near career best of 27.99.
She nearly matched her career best, set at this meet last year, where she swam a 27.98.
Ian Disosway and Matt Vatev were neck and neck in the men’s 50 breast, as Disosway was able to clinch the win by just six hundredths in 24.53. His best came at this meet last season, where he finished 3rd in 24.80.
Vatev finished runner-up for the 2nd consecutive season, after touching in 24.68 last season.
Alyssa Sagle was untouchable in the 100 back, as she would finish well over a second ahead of the field in 51.16, a time that sits half a second slower than her VHSL Class State 6 State Championship winning 50.56. The next closest finisher was Lane Francis of Nova of Virginia, who notched her fastest ever performance in 52.37, nearly half a second quicker than her pre-meet career best of 52.84 from earlier this month at the Virginia Senior Championships.
The final individual event of the evening saw Luke Vatev earn his 2nd win of the night, swimming a second faster than the field in the men’s 200 butterfly in a lifetime best effort of 1:43.16. This tops his best time from this meet in 2025, where he touched in 1:45.75. The next closest was Mattaus Rammel in 1:44.47, about a second slower than his recently swum best time of 1:43.50.
Nation’s Capital Swim Club controlled the women’s 800 free relay as Emma Cigna (1:48.63), Sagle (1:49.42), Ginger Strickland (1:50.80), and Buckley (1:45.62) downed Edina Swim Club (7:15.14) to earn the relay win in 7:13.47.
The men’s 200 free relay saw only two teams dip under the 1:21 mark, as Nasa Wildcat Aquatics and Nation’s Capital each battled for the win in Orlando.
Nasa’s quartet of Aidan Kaplan (20.05), Rohaan Babul (20.33), Teddy O’Donnell (20.33), and Evan Cornoiu (19.72) outpaced Nation’s Capital by just over three tenths in a session closing win in 1:20.33.
