Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has called on activating the joint Arab defense agreement, and also denied receiving any requests from fellow Arab states for Egypt to intervene in the ongoing Iran war.
This came in response to a question during his meeting with journalists and media figures at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo on Tuesday.
Abdelatty referred to ongoing efforts within the region to establish new security arrangements, rejecting any attempts to impose ideas from outside the region.
The Foreign Minister called on activating the legal frameworks and agreements that have been agreed upon by the Arab states, including the Joint Defense Agreement.
Abdelatty warned of the repercussions of the ongoing conflicts in the region, which could lead to widespread chaos.
He emphasized the role of the Arab League, in accordance with the principles established with its member states, in halting foreign interference, respecting international law, rejecting any attempts to impose a position through blatant armed force, and completely preventing nuclear proliferation in the region.
The region is undergoing a transformation due to the current war, the minister said, suggesting a shift in the regional balance of power.
He affirmed that Egypt is discussing all possible scenarios regarding the consequences of the escalating conflict.
