2026 U Sports Swimming & Diving Championships
March 12-14, 2026 Markham Canada Short Course Meters (25 meters), Prelims/Finals Live Results Day 1 Video Replay 2025 Results Day 1 RecapThe 2nd day of the 2026 U Sports Swimming & Diving Championships is in the books. Day 2 of the meet saw more phenomenal racing, including many more championship records.
University of British Columbia has jumped out to commanding leads in both the men’s and women’s team standings through the first couple days of the meet, and look to be well on their way to a pair of decisive victories.
Women’s Meet
Top 5 Team Standings:
UBC – 1073 Toronto – 744 McGill – 612.5 Calgary – 471.5 Western University – 340Day 2 got out to a fast start on the women’s side, seeing Kayla Sanchez (University of British Columbia) win the 50 free in a new championship record of 24.03. She won the race by 0.73 seconds. The previous championship record was held by Sanchez herself, with the 24.18 she swam at last year’s championship. Of note, Western University’s Zea Wetzlaugk came in 2nd with a 24.76, setting a new Western University record in the process.
Emma O’Croinin won the 400 free in 4:06.29, touching 1st by a whopping 7 seconds. O’Croinin set a new UBC record in the process.
UBC’s Bridget Burton was excellent in the 100 back, swimming a 57.75. It was a great performance for Burton personally, as well as UBC as a team. Teammate Piper Mitchell took 2nd with a 59.47.
University of Toronto picked up a win on the day as well. Nina Mollin claimed victory in the 200 IM, swimming a 2:12.78.
UBC was back on top in the 50 fly, where they had their best showing of the day. Eloise Allen won the race in 25.96, while teammate Rose Garcia was 2nd in 26.55. On top of that, UBC took 4th (Sela Wist – 26.64), 6th (Brooklyn Wiens – 26.86), and 7th (Benya Mattig – 27.14). Additionally, Sydney Hardeman came in 3rd with a 26.63, setting a new Western University record in the process.
The relay of the day was the 4×200 free relay. UBC won the relay in a new championship record. Ruby Kehler (2:01.31), Kayla Sanchez (1:55.53), Jade Lo (2:00.42), and Emma O’Croinin (1:55.62) teamed up for a 7:52.88, shattering UBC’s own championship record of 7:54.05 from last year.
Men’s Recap
Top 5 Team Standings:
UBC – 1143 Toronto – 610 Calgary – 578.5 McGill – 560 Ottawa – 256The men’s events got out to a great start as well on Friday, seeing Yuri Kisil (UBC) win the 50 free in 21.31. That performance marks a new U Sports championship record, taking down the 21.38 he swam in prelims. Ricky Millns came in 5th with a 22.17, setting a new University of Victoria record.
University of Toronto’s Nathan Thomas kept the momentum rolling, winning the men’s 200 breast in record fashion. Thomas popped a 2:06.26, shattering the championship record, which sat at 2:07.58 from 2009. Justice Migneault came in 2nd with a 2:07.21, which was also under the previous championship record, and marks a new UBC record.
UBC had a stellar showing in the 400 free, sweeping the top 3. Aiden Kirk won the race in 3:44.87, while teammate Zach Parise was 2nd in 3:45.52, and Olivier Risk took 3rd in 3:46.36. Kirk was within a second of the championship record, which stands at 3:43.91. Aiden Gyorfi took 4th in 3:46.39, setting a new University of Calgary record in the process. Raphael Blamart came in 5th with a 3:46.97, putting up a new University of Montreal record.
University of Toronto’s Andrew Herman put up an electric swim in the 100 back, clocking a 50.56. That performance marked a new championship record, taking the mark under 51 seconds for the first time. Raben Dommann (UBC) finished a hair behind Herman, taking 2nd in 50.68, which was also under the previous record.
Benjamin Loewen (Toronto) was dominant in the 200 IM, swimming a 1:56.12 to touch 1st by well over 2 seconds. His performance also marks a new University of Toronto record. Raphael Blamart came in 2nd with a 1:58.55, setting his 2nd University of Montreal record of the day.
UBC’s Kai Lilienthal clocked a 22.66 to win the 50 fly, taking down his own championship record of 22.86, which he set in prelims yesterday. His swim also marked a new UBC record. Eric Ginzburg was great in the race as well, taking 2nd in 22.90, which is a new Yord University record.
The relay on the day was the 4×200 free relay, where UBC was stellar. Zach Parise (1:45.80), Jake Gaunt (1:46.76), Paul Hebrard (1:46.19), and Raben Dommann (1:45.75) teamed up for a 7:04.50, setting a new championship record, as well as a new Canadian Senior Record in the event.
