The 2nd day of the 2026 CSCAA National Invite Championships saw more meet records fall, which went hand-in-hand with some spectacular swims.

At the conclusion of day 2, Ohio State was holding onto their lead in the women’s team standings, while Kentucky is close behind. On the men’s side of things, Queens (NC) is holding onto their lead, but Ohio State is sitting only 22 points back.

Ohio State got off to a hot start, sweeping the 400 IM in record fashion. In the women’s 400 IM, Ohio State’s Jessica Eden clocked a 4:10.70, winning the race by exactly a second. Eden was a bit off her career best of 4:09.45, which she set at the Big Ten Championships a few weeks ago, but she still managed to break the NIC meet record in the event.

Buckeye TJ Frost then won the men’s 400 IM, swimming a 3:44.87. Frost set a new personal best with the performance, as well as a meet record. It was a 1-2 punch for the Buckeyes, as Shmuel Vaisburg took 2nd with a 3:47.26.

Akron’s Helena Lalkovic took down the meet record in the women’s 200 free, swimming a 1:46.11. Lalkovic was just off her career best of 1:45.39, which she swam at the MAC Championships a few weeks ago.

The women’s 100 fly saw Rice’s Lily Archibald win a very tight race. Archibald stopped the clock in 53.25, finishing just a hair ahead of Bryant’s Ruby Tonelli-Smith, who was 2nd in 53.27. Behind Tonelli-Smith, Miami (FL)’s Isabelle Videment came in 3rd with a 53.31, while Denver’s Julia Saxman and Akron’s Callie Parkes tied for 4th with a 53.34.

Grand Canyon earned a win, seeing Alex Volkov clock a 46.68 to take the men’s 100 fly. The men’s 100 fly was close, just like the women’s, as Denver’s Hamish McLellan touched 0.01 seconds behind Volkov with a 46.69. Towson’s Benjamin Eischeid was right there at the finish as well, stopping the clock in 46.75 for 3rd.

Queens (NC) earned the win in the men’s 200 free, where Daniel Meszaros stopped the clock in 1:34.69.

Fresno State’s Jenna Pulkkinen and Iowa State’s Grace Swoboda had a terrific battle in the women’s 100 breast. Pulkkinen got out to the early lead, clocking a 28.36 on the opening 50, which was a quarter-second quicker than Swoboda’s 28.61. Swoboda then had the faster back half, bringing it home in 31.65, while Pulkkinen was 31.83. At the finish, Pulkkinen was the victor, swimming a 1:00.19, while Swoboda was right behind with a 1:00.26.

Ohio State was back on top of the podium in the men’s 100 breast, where Mason Francis won in 52.46. He was just a touch off his career best of 52.28, which was set at the Big Ten Championships a couple weeks ago. He was also just off the meet record of 52.31, which was set back in 2024.

Miami (FL) had a gold on the night as well. Leah Treglia won the women’s 100 back in 52.72, marking yet another close victory on the night. East Carolina’s Carlie Clements was right behind, swimming a 52.75 for 2nd.

Kentucky’s Devin Naoroz won the men’s 100 back in 46.01.

There were 2 relays on the day: the 200 medley and 800 free. It started with the women’s 200 medley relay, where Abigail Zboran (25.10), Libby Livesay (27.39), Maddie Foster (24.18), and Maren Patterson (22.21) earned the win for Queens (NC), putting up a 1:38.88.

Queens made it a sweep of the 200 medley relay, as Pablo Ortega (22.05), Matheus Teixeira Przewalla (24.43), Emil Harlem (19.88), and Stamatis Paleocrassas (18.94) combined for a 1:25.30.

In the women’s 800 free relay, Akron’s squad of Ada Szwabinska (1:48.42), Lalkovic (1:45.88), Ava Withey (1:50.51), and Hannah Trainer (1:47.98) teamed up for a 7:12.79, winning the race by over 2 seconds.

The men’s 800 free relay saw TJ Frost (1:34.92), Rayburn Kohl (1:37.26), Krys Gorski (1:37.65), and Gherman Prudnikau (1:37.29) combine for a 6:27.12, earning yet another win for Ohio State on the day.
