A hands-on look at a vent-mounted wireless charger that delivers secure magnetic hold, efficient Qi2 charging, and adjustable viewing angles
buy from amazonLast year, I invested in a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning. I hadn’t had a truck in several years and I decided to go with this model it checked all the boxes for what I wanted in a daily driver while still giving me the hauling capability I missed. Even though the trim package provided most of the features I wanted, I’ve recently been missing a wireless vent charger. I wanted just the right blend of size and functionality. So, I went with the ESR OmniLock Magnetic Qi2 Air Vent Charger.
About the ESR OmniLock Magnetic Qi2 25W Air Vent Car Mount Charger
The ESR OmniLock Magnetic Qi2 25W Air Vent Car Mount Charger combines a secure magnetic phone mount with fast wireless charging to create a convenient in-car solution for keeping your device powered and accessible. Designed for MagSafe compatible iPhones and Qi2 enabled smartphones, the charger uses strong magnetic alignment to hold your phone in place while delivering efficient wireless power during your drive.
With support for up to 25W wireless charging, the OmniLock mount helps reduce charging times compared to many traditional wireless car chargers. Its built in CryoBoost cooling system actively dissipates heat with a small fan, helping maintain consistent charging performance even when running navigation, streaming music, or using other power intensive apps.
The mount attaches to your vehicle’s air vent using a locking clip and features multiple adjustment points that allow you to easily position your phone for optimal viewing. Whether you prefer portrait or landscape orientation, the flexible ball joint design makes it easy to find the right angle for navigation or hands free use.
By combining magnetic mounting, Qi2 wireless charging, and active cooling in a compact vent mounted design, the ESR OmniLock offers a practical way to keep your phone secure and charged while on the road.

User Experience
The Magnetic Car Charger (as it’s called on the box) comes in an ESR branded box. There is a clear image of the product on the front of the box and some of the main features are highlighted around the box. As always, ESR does a great job with their packaging. The inside had the individual parts for the charger well protected and it came with very easy to follow instructions.
The first thing I did after unboxing the charger was to assemble it. There isn’t a lot of assembly involved, but you do have to connect the charging pad to the vent mount arm. This is accomplished by screwing the ball mount to the charging pad and it’s ready to go. When you insert it into the vent in your car, you tighten the locking nut to secure the metal vent hook against the vent blades.
For me, this was a fairly simple process. I took the charger out to the F-150, which was sitting our carport, and I put it into the vent closest to the steering wheel. The truck’s control touchscreen is located on the other side of this particular vent. I didn’t have any issues with fitting the mount and it was very secure in this particular spot.
To evaluate charging performance, I conducted timed charging test using the truck’s 12V accessory outlet and the USB-C port on the included car charger. The result ended up providing a charging rate of roughly about 0.67 percent per minute, or close to 40 percent per hour under similar conditions. The results suggest the charger delivers solid mid-range charging performance during everyday driving.
During the test, the phone remained cool to the touch and did not appear to overheat while charging. The mount’s built-in fan seems to help manage heat during normal use, although I have not yet tested it in extreme temperatures. Because of that, it is still unclear how well the cooling system will perform during peak summer heat when wireless charging typically generates more warmth.
I also did not notice any charging interruptions or slowdowns related to heat buildup or magnetic alignment. The phone consistently maintained its connection to the charger throughout the test, and charging continued smoothly without needing to reposition the device.
In terms of magnetic hold and overall stability, the mount performed well during normal driving conditions. While driving on rougher roads, I noticed some moderate bouncing, which is common with most vent-mounted phone holders. Even so, the movement was minimal and noticeably less than what I have experienced with other vent mounts. The phone remained firmly attached to the charger and never felt at risk of falling off, even when encountering bumps in the road.
The mount also maintained proper magnetic alignment throughout my testing and did not shift or rotate unexpectedly. Once the phone was attached, it stayed centered on the charging area without requiring adjustment. Day-to-day use was equally straightforward, as the magnetic connection makes it easy to place the phone on the mount and remove it with one hand when leaving the vehicle.
The ball head on the mount makes it very easy to adjust the phone for easy viewing. I didn’t have any issues putting it in portrait or landscape mode. While the magnet holds the charger very securely, the phone does not lock into place for each viewing mode. You can turn the phone very easily while it’s on the magnetic charger. I haven’t noticed the phone or charger blocking the airflow much at all. It redirects the air that ends up hitting the back of the phone, but it’s not an interference in my opinion.
Conclusion
The ESR OmniLock Magnetic Qi2 Air Vent Car Mount Charger offers a practical and reliable solution for wireless charging on the go. It combines strong magnetic hold, solid mid-range charging performance, and active cooling in a compact vent-mounted design. In daily use, it keeps the phone secure, allows flexible viewing angles, and performs smoothly without noticeable slowdowns, making it a convenient addition to any vehicle with compatible phones.
