MCC college planning event
Monroe Community College is holding its annual event to help families plan for college. College 101 is happening at the Thomas Flynn Campus Center of the Brighton campus from 6 to 8 p.m.
Representatives from colleges and universities across the area will be there to provide students and parents with information on applying for financial aid, choosing a major, and more.
Darien Lake summer hiring fair
Six Flags Darien Lake is looking to hire over 1,500 people ahead of the summer season. The Genesee County amusement park and entertainment venue is holding a hiring fair from Wednesday through Friday.
It’s aiming to hire lifeguards, ride operators, food servers, hotel hospitality workers, security, and more. The hiring fair is happening at the Six Flags Darien Human Resources Offices on 1501 Sumner Road from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for all three days. You can also apply and see a list of available jobs online here.
People should bring two legal forms of identification with them to the fair, such as a driver’s license, birth certificate, or Social Security card. Most positions are for people 16 and older, with a few open to people 14 and older. The park is hiring workers ahead of its May 15 opening.
Hampton University choir at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church
The Hampton University Concert Choir is coming to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on Adams Street for a fundraiser to support the choir and a scholarship fund.
The choir at Hampton University, a historically Black university in Hampton, Virginia, has performed for U.S. presidents, lawmakers, religious leaders, and more. Wednesday’s concert will help to support the Gamma Iota Boulé Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund.
The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. You can get tickets here. Before the concert, the choir will also perform at the School of the Arts and hold a question-and-answer session.
