The San Diego City Council will hold an evening budget discussion at 6 p.m. Tuesday to give residents the chance to share input after conventional working hours.
“We invite every San Diego resident to participate in this important discussion on the budget,” said San Diego City Council President Joe LaCava.
“Your input is critical in formulating the budget for the coming year and will help City Council determine which programs and services are prioritized and which are reduced.”
The road ahead for the city may not be a smooth one. Current estimates project a deficit of up to $120 million in the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. This follows some dramatic cuts and controversial efforts to plug funding gaps this past year.
“As we continue into a challenging FY2027 budget cycle, hearing directly from residents is more important than ever,” said Councilman Henry Foster III. “I strongly encourage San Diegans to attend Tuesday’s budget session to share their input.
“These decisions impact the services our communities rely on daily, and community voices will help guide how resources are prioritized and potentially help protect core city services.”
San Diego residents can participate in person at the 12th Floor of the City Administration Building or virtually through Zoom.

On April 15, Gloria will release his proposed budget for the next year. He will then present it to City Council on April 20. The council will hold budget review meetings May 4-8 before Gloria then releases a revised budget on May 13.
The San Diego City Council will discuss and vote on the Fiscal Year 2027 budget on June 9.
