Moore Hurt, Nazar’s Heating Up, Big Summer Intrigue, Pridham Scores, and Other Blackhawks Bullets ...Middle East

Hey, the Blackhawks play another game tonight! This one is at the United Center, and it should be an emotional night with the team paying tribute in some way to the great Troy Murray. Darren Pang and Tony Granato were on the national desk at TNT on Sunday and got a chance to speak about Troy’s passing. Tonight’s gonna be a really hard night for a lot of people in the building.

— NHLonTNT (@NHL_On_TNT) March 8, 2026 Frank Nazar didn’t quite look like himself when he came back from the jaw injury before the Olympics, and his production seemed to indicate he was fighting both the injury a bit as well as seeing tougher matchups every night in the NHL. Since the Olympics, he’s played more like the guy we saw last year. And he’s finally seeing the results in the box scores to back up his improved play. He has five points in his last three games and back-to-back multi-point performances. Nazar driving offense is a big key to the Blackhawks showing some improvement down the stretch, and he’s doing that. Oliver Moore got hurt yesterday during the first period, and the only update after the game from head coach Jeff Blashill was that Moore wouldn’t play tonight against Utah. The bad news: the Blackhawks host a good Utah team tonight. The maybe(?) okay(?) news: the Blackhawks only play three games in the nine days that follow tonight’s contest, and they might be able to add Sacha Boisvert at some point during that stretch.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) March 8, 2026 This was a fascinating read on a Monday morning after the trade deadline. Pierre LeBrun at The Athletic write about how a trade deadline that was seemingly handicapped by new CBA restrictions (postseason salary cap, no more double retention) could lead to a massive summer of player movement around the NHL. He speculates about the futures of Brady Tkachuk, Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid. And lists the guys who will be RFAs this summer and the potential trade chips with just one year remaining on their contracts. It feels like 2027 might be the biggest swing summer in recent memory in the NHL — and that might line up perfectly with when the Blackhawks would want to go big — but there’s a chance the summer of ’26 sees significant changes as well. Great read here.

From Vincent Trocheck to Connor McDavid, these are some of the biggest names we could see moved in the 2026 NHL offseason.Read more: t.co/GN5Jp8GL81

— The Athletic NHL (@TheAthleticNHL) March 9, 2026 Jack Pridham and the Kitchener Rangers faced AJ Spellacy and the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday afternoon. Pridham scored his 42nd of the season on the power play in the second period. Spellacy got the last laugh, though, with two assists in the third period of a 5-2 Windsor win.

— Kitchener Rangers (@OHLRangers) March 8, 2026 Finally, here’s where the college teams with Blackhawks prospect sit in the top 20 in the NPI rankings heading into conference tournament play this week. Boston University is at No. 24 — they probably need to win the Hockey East Tournament to get into the NCAA tournament this year. How far they can advance in that tournament will have an impact on how soon Sacha Boisvert can/will sign with the Blackhawks. Source: NCAA
