Robert Cosby Jr.’s ex-wife, Alexiana Arian Smokoff, is mourning his unexpected death.

She continued, “Every time he’d go back over there, they’d call the police and they’d arrest him. This time they tased him, but I’m happy [and] I’m in a good place. I’m not worried about him. I know he’s some place where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back, so that he can learn and make his own decisions.”
Before their breakup, Alexiana and Robert Jr., who pleaded guilty to charges of assault, trespassing and violating a protective order, both struggled with substance abuse issues.
“[Alexiana] put herself through rehab, she has a really good job and she has a different direction,” the insider tells Us. “She wanted to get her life together, she wanted to get straight. She wanted a clean [slate].”

Mary previously revealed during a December 2024 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that both her son and Alexiana had entered in-patient treatment facilities.

Robert Jr. and Alexiana’s divorce was settled in January before he was released from jail the following month.
“Understanding and recognizing the relationship was difficult for Robert based on his religion and background,” Robert Jr.’s lawyer Clayton Simms told People of the divorce. “To him, marriage is sacred and forever. His parents were his example and they’ve been married for 27 years.”

Simms added, “Robert was slow to recognize and accept his marriage was over and continued to connect with his soon-to-be ex-wife. Robert has accepted responsibility for his mistakes and has pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors.”
Robert Jr. was released from police custody two weeks before his death after a potential overdose.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” Mary wrote in a Wednesday statement, announcing her only child’s death. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
