Joseph Carrisales was a good guy with many struggles

Regarding the recent article about remembering those who died while unhoused. Joseph Carrisales is my brother and we feel like this article made us sound as if we didn’t care about him or his wellbeing. He wouldn’t let us help him. He wanted help from nobody because he didn’t mind living the way he did, he told me this. It’s not that we didn’t care. He just had alcoholism and refused help, believe me we tried many times. He was a good guy, but had many struggles.

Joseph Carrisales was not forgotten. We tried to help him and be there for him but we couldn’t have him around when he would become intoxicated, confrontational and violent. He struggled with his alcoholism daily, so this happened every time he was around. It was a difficult and painful choice to keep our distance from him, but a necessary one.

My mom would go look for him often, especially in the cold and bring him to stay the night/s when she found him. They were close.

He just also wanted to be out and about being a wild child. Not because nobody cared for him, he needed help and wouldn’t accept any so he just went day to day like this for a long time. He was a good guy, with many struggles. We miss him, we love him and when we had the chance, we looked him in the eye and told him so, followed by a hug and some tears.

I’m glad people remember all those in the struggle, but it saddens me that this article makes it sound like we, his family, abandoned and forgot him. We never forgot him and never will forget our loved one, Joseph Carrisales. Thank you for remembering him too.

Cascadia project raises finance questions

As voter I have questions on this (Cascadia/Catalyst) project.

1. If Colorado Eagles’ home games generate such profit, why is The Ranch willing to let that revenue walk away?

2. Why can’t Martin Linn with proven track record raise money from private investors to build this? Why does he even need city of Greeley involved? Investors are always willing to invest in projects that will make money. Think about that.

The 1,100-acre Bandimere speedway complex is being built without city, county, state money. Something seriously wrong if Mr. Linn can’t raise investors.

Many helped out when car battery died

Last week my wife and I drove to the Butter My Biscuit restaurant in Kersey for lunch and upon leaving the key fob wouldn’t unlock our car nor would it unlock manually using the ignition key.

Thinking the fob needed a new battery a young employee at the “Biscuit” offered to cross the highway to the Dollar Store and he bought a new one but it didn’t help.

Two young ladies at the “Biscuit” called a Kersey tow truck operator and gave my wife a free cop of coffee as we waited. The tow truck guy got the front door open and discovered the car battery was dead because I forgot to turn off the headlights. He jumped it and started the car. And none of the folks who helped us would take a cent for their efforts and outlay.

A tip of my hat and a big thanks to all of you.
