The SGA released the unofficial results for the 2026 election on Tuesday. The election had a turnout of 24.58%, meaning 9,870 voters out of 40,157 eligible undergraduate students voted.
This year’s presidential election saw three candidates run. Samantha Simmons won with 85.25% of the vote. Kyle Porter was the runner-up with 11.09% of the vote, and Aaron Rak received 2.66%.

The Graduate School has seven seats, so a special election will need to be held to fill the final seat.
Langdon, along with all electees from the School of Social Work and School of Law, were write-in candidates. Rhodes and Claytor were also write-in candidates for the Styslinger College of Engineering.
Eight constitutional amendments were also passed:
C-03-25 (Graduation Loophole): Disqualifies candidates for Senate or Executive office if they are graduating in the same term they are elected to ensure they can serve their full term.
C-04-25 (FYC Language): Changes “Director” to “Directors” for the First Year Council to reflect that multiple individuals typically hold the role.
C-05-25 (Administrative Titles): Updates a reference in the SGA constitution to The University of Alabama “Vice President for Student Affairs” to “Vice President for Student Life” to match current University naming conventions.
C-06-25 (Ex-Officio Purpose): Clarifies the term “ex-officio” and explicitly defines the SGA Treasurer as a non-voting member of the Financial Affairs Committee.
C-07-25 (Succession & New VP): Adds the Vice President for Communications to the Executive Council and establishes a formal line of presidential succession.
