Multiple individuals were taken to area hospitals after a vehicle slammed into a Chicago fire truck on Interstate 57 Sunday morning.

According to the Illinois State Police, that fire truck was responding to an earlier crash in the inbound lanes near 99th Street when it was struck by a speeding vehicle.

The fire truck was stationary in the left and center lanes of the roadway, and the vehicle, coming around the curve, crashed into the front of the CFD vehicle, according to Illinois State Police.

No firefighters were hurt, but multiple individuals from the vehicle were transported to area hospitals, according to authorities.

The roadway was closed for approximately two hours for crash clean-up.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for violating “Scott’s Law,” and for driving without insurance.
