I honestly want to walk into the United Center myself and fire Billy Donovan. In a game where the Chicago Bulls were getting dominated by 20+ points and had two guards, Jaden Ivey and Anfernee Simons, unavailable, that man still could not find it in himself to give Rob Dillingham any meaningful minutes.
This is getting ridiculous. There is no need for a man so hell-bent on refusing to develop talent on a rebuilding team like Chicago. He’s done it with Matas Buzelis, he’s done it with Noa Essengue, and even though he was not the acting head coach, his team did it with Jaden Ivey as well. And now it continues with Rob. It’s just not acceptable. It really isn’t.
Rob could have easily played 20–25 minutes, but instead Billy wanted to chase wins with Collin freaking Sexton. Dillingham finished with just eight pity garbage minutes, in which he got no rhythm.
Get that coach off my team, and get someone who will actually let the young guys get a run. Oh my god!

The third quarter is where Chicago lost the plot. A 44–26 quarter was always going to push the game out of reach, but before that, the Bulls were leading at the half.
A ton of turnovers followed.
Both Jalen Duren and Cade Cunningham secured their double-doubles in that quarter, ballooning the lead to 25, the highest of the game. Duren, Robinson and Tobias Harris, combined for 26 points in that quarter, tied with what the entire Bulls had.

— Detroit Pistons (@DetroitPistons) February 22, 2026Not only did Chicago allow Detroit to take 25 shots and make 17, but they also did their part in the ethical tank, taking fewer attempts and making even fewer to make sure they had no real chance of staying in it.
Chicago’s red-hot scoring from behind the arc, as expected, cooled down like it hit liquid nitrogen, dropping from 9/17 in the first half to 3/10 in the third quarter.
It was the easiest prediction to make after watching the first half, knowing Chicago wouldn’t sustain the numbers they were putting up. And they didn’t.
From there, the 21-point advantage was more than enough for the Pistons to coast to a win.

— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) February 22, 2026Key Stats and Takeaways
A 4/5 from the field and a 3/3 start from behind the arc was a refreshing change of pace for the Chicago Bulls, whose shots were finally falling with yet another unique lineup taking the court tonight. Forcing the best team in the East to burn the first timeout of the game is always a motivating plus.Gimme the hot sauce, Giddey ?@JoshGiddey | @CHSN__ pic.twitter.com/KUVf7o9KF5
— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) February 22, 2026 Even though the Bulls ended the opening period with the lead, it was Detroit who looked a level or two above Chicago. They forced seven turnovers and dominated the points in the paint, holding more than a tenfold advantage (20–2). Chicago’s insane stroke from behind the arc, going 8/9, is what gave them that edge, but no one in the building expected it to last.+2 after 1. pic.twitter.com/yF9Lb2lmTi
— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) February 22, 2026 That block after block after block after block in the second quarter was beautiful. A block party in Chicago was unexpected, but very welcome, and it got the entire United Center on its feet. Both teams combined for nine blocks in that quarter, seven from Chicago, two for Detroit. That was the most blocks in a quarter for Chicago since 2017.It's a block party in the UC ?@BuzelisMatas | @CHSN__ pic.twitter.com/fS5bGDPshx
— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) February 22, 2026 Josh Giddey had a great first half. He went a perfect 5/5 from the field, 3/3 from behind the arc, and added a buzzer-beating floater to close the half. He had a team-high 14 points at the half and finished with 27 points on 10/16 from the field and 5/8 from behind the arc. It was a good sight to see, and a rare one, making this one of his few great performances this calendar year. Giddey’s impact on the offense is noticeable, and when the rest of the team rises to that level, they can compete with anyone. The Chicago Bulls, who were drowning in guard depth, has seen two big ones fall today. Earlier today, there was the news of Jaden Ivey being out for at least a couple of weeks. And tonight, Anfernee Simons played just 13 minutes before leaving the game with a left wrist injury, with no signs of returning.Bulls say Anfernee Simons – left wrist injury – will not return tonight.
— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) February 22, 2026 With the 126–110 loss tonight, the Bulls are now on an eight-game losing streak, continuing their descent down the league standings as they hope for a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. With tanking becoming the topic dominating NBA discourse, this team, even at full strength, finds no way to threaten a win. Unfortunately, they also find no way to threaten player development, but what else is new.Back on the floor on Sunday. pic.twitter.com/gbj8AhRzRq
